Anyone have an opinion what this chipper is worth. In very nice mechanical condition but removing and changing knives may be an issue with it not being done for a while. Also badly in need of some paint and tlc. Bearings seem fantastic. Engine runs and starts perfect. Very simple and uncomplicated chuck and duck.

Anyone know where to go to find out the value of this unit....Thanks.

Vet, I sold my 2001 Mitts and Merrill K-16 chipper with approximately 1000 hours on a cummins diesel for $4500 2 years ago. I had it on Craigslist for $6000 since it was in good shape with new knives but it was difficult to sell at that price. Hope this helps.

Thanks for reply Cedar. I am gonna go ahead and buy it tomorrow. He wanted $5500 and I offered $4500 last week and he just accepted. This has the Perkins instead of the Cummins and only 1200 hrs.. I had the same engine in a BC 1250 A but it was a turbo and I was very happy with it. This chipper weighs 4k lbs, my bc2000 weighs 15k lbs.

I ran a 16" gas Mitts for 25 years beginning in 1972 when I bought my first self feeder. I think I'd rather have this than one of the micro self feeders in a small set up with a 1 ton pickup with a dump insert and a box. The small chip size from the staggered knives I really liked. My BC 2000 is just so tedious to take out for small jobs like pruning and tweasing like weinies like "Jeff" (^) do full time (lol).

(edit....Jeff and EZ flowem)

I figured you were selling. You're right, a BC2000 is crazy big and heavy for a pruning job. $4500 for a 1200 hour Perkins M&M? I'd grab it for that price.

marty-feldman-1.webp I have had numerous one ton pickups, some with dump inserts and some with dumps under the pick up bed but yeah....maybe a little harsh...my comments on one ton dually dumps.

I just bought a new '15 Silverado 3500 with a boss v plow already on it and this time I kept the 09 one ton Silv. It already had a dump insert and I think will mate well with the Mitts.

It has to be the 16" Mitts in my opinion as the 12" has too light of a rotor/flywheel effect. Sorry for busting on ya...all in fun.

You have the knuckle boom loader on your Vermeer, or is it bareback? Is it the older 200 hp Cummins model, or one of the newer 225, 250 hp ones? Either way, not something you want to drag around for pruning.
I always thought they were 1 of the nicest towing chippers. Pretty smooth ride with the tandem axles. And probably my favorite tongue jack of any chipper, with the spring loaded foot bail that also served to hold the folded handle in place - very clever!

no knuckle loader and it is a 2000 with a 200 hp Cummins...We love it and often load a trailer with brush and bring it to the chipper instead of vice versa. Tows real nice. Mack midliner cabover 18' chip dump box. 563028_484718928252853_274054813_n.webp

The dump inserts have a lot less capacity than the cab and chassis's with a box but you'll come to like it for those small jobs.
