hey y'all
I've just finished doing some of my first 16 strand splices and had a question. Does the overlapping of the core and cover provide any strength/reliability to the splice or is it simply just a transition back from the cover to the core inside the jacket. I understand that the construction of the rope has all the strength in the cover but I wonder if this transition enhances the "finger trap" effect of the splice.
thanks in advance
