Just put this together today and wasn't quite sure of the best way to finish it off...

Do you think I still need to bury the last 11" after the 22"? I figured that might only be done for consistency when the core is still in there.

And also, how long would the minimum bury be with no core: 22? or the full 33? Less than 22?

Thanks,

bury it all! and taper it real nice. bonus points if you can milk that knot into the body of the rope as well!

You will be working outside of the manufacture's recommendations splicing this without the core!

When you do that crossover that will add more 'holding power' to your splice, think friction and surface area. This is why for those slippery fibers we have to increase our bury length.

Personally for a friction saver I would want a stiffer final product, ie, with the core in it or with the two splices overlapping.

Yea, this would probably work..but you might want to consider a full burry and crossover.

Normally on friction savers like this you can pull the core and do a full bury and cross over with the jacket. Doing it this way makes a real strong splice.

Nobody is going to pass that friction saver in a gear inspection at any comp. You are on the right track!
