044 in a box

My boss was very nice this week and gave me a 044 that needed the piston replaced, only problem is when he gave it to me it was in a million pieces in a cardboard box. I would have had no problem repairing the saw if I had disassembled it myself that way I would know how to put it back together. Anyone on here able to offer me any guidance in replacing the piston and reassembling this saw? Also any recommendations on other parts I should replace while it is in pieces? Maybe someone has a .PDF breakdown on this saw?? Thanks in advance

Your stihl deal has exploded diagrams of every component of that saw see if they will print them off for you.

Also check in with the local library. I came across a repair book for most saws with full diagrams.

Most stihls are very similar in the way they are assembled. If you can use another saw as a guide it should be close enough to figure it out.

I tried that, he didn't want to do it for me probably hoping I get frustrated and pay him to do it

Any Stihl dealer can get you the the layout for saws. Let me rephrase that any Stihl dealer/repair shop has them .

The 044 service manual file was to big for email. So I sent you the MS440 one along with 044 IPL.

Stihl would have it down in a matter of hours. Dealer only for all Stihl products, including print outs.
