i would look into vermeer. Ditch witch makes a solid machine but there service is terrible (and jesco). Sneaky sales man with sneaky contracts will put a sour taste in your mouth
Pros of a gas
-$20k cheaper
- less maintenance? Maybe, spark plugs, distributors, longevity after 2000 hours ?
-cheaper fuel, but they’re going to have worse fuel economy of a diesel so that doesn’t really count
-easy winter starting, but how hard is it to add some diesel additive and plug the...

I’m in the same boat. I did a demo on the 1821 with the gas. It’s a nice machine but very big also. What do you think if the bandit 15xp? I like that it’s a smaller machine. I’m not sold on the gas engines either. I just think a chipper has to be a diesel when it’s being run hard. Tough for me...
Are you a Morbark sales man ? Haha. Maybe I’m just biased with the gas. I appreciate your feedback because I really need a bigger machine and the extra price of a diesel is out of control! End of the day though the 1821 out chips my twister 2 to 1. Are the new diesels really that much of a...
I did a demo on a Morbark 1821 gas. It’s a beautiful machine, but the gas motor is disappointing. Some of my concerns are that the engine will not hold up like a diesel. Diesels are used for a reason in chippers. Fuel economy is going to be an problem. They are going to suck down a ton of fuel...
I’m selling my 2006 Twister 12. It has the 86hp CAT diesel. This is an excellent little machine that’s always been maintained and only used by me. The reason for selling is that I bought a bigger chipper.
I’m looking at a Morbark 1821 with a gas motor. Diesel isn’t an option. I’m wondering how these gas chippers are with performance and fuel economy. I heard that it’s pretty bad. I have a 12 inch morbark that’s a good chipper and I hate to get rid of it.
