I no longer use a croll in my climbing system however I did start out climbing SRT with a croll. I used a swivel as my bridge attachment point and you can simply attach the croll to the bottom of your swivel and attach your climbing system to the top of the swivel. It works very well
I climb almost exclusively SRT and haven't found any issues with the tree motion related to srt climbing. I currently have two tree motions. One is setup for removals and crane days and it has a pair of homemade suspenders that work very well when having a big saw all day and the other is setup...
Although I would recommend a tree motion because I believe it's the best saddle on the market... Petzl does make a similar option to the tree flex when it comes to having two attachment point options https://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?category_id=131&item=11157
Oh I totally agree it's definitely not his fault. I was kind just redirecting the thread a bit cause I was curious. I don't personally use lags other then in the occasional ornamental tree that requires support but isn't large enough for another system. But we use eye bolts, rig guys and cobra...
I don't want to get in the middle of the TreeStuff Sherrill debate but I am wondering why you would be using lags. No judgement just wondering. There are several other cabling options out there these days that are very simple and effective. Is there a reason you prefer lags? Just curious really
Well clearly you were not there that day and so I don't expect you to fully understand the details and circumstances of everything that occurred that day but I can assure you that it was much more complex then just throw line tangled in brush. Being the safety expert that you assert yourself to...
I think it's funny how concerned you seem to about making the tree care industry safer but you have absolutely no clue how to make that happen. Sitting behind your keyboard and trolling a thread in the awakenings forum criticizing and judging others is in no way productive. I put my story out...
I have always been looking for a viable solution for spar rescue scenarios but have never seemed to come up with any functional ideas. This could be a potential solution to that problem. I definitely like the idea however I agree the previous posts that it is probably not practical. Love the...
With a name like mrtree I guess I thought you would understand that tree work is a very dynamic work environment where things are constantly changing and evolving. Hazards that were not present or even foreseeable can present themselves in the blink of an eye and it is simply not reasonable to...
I am by no means insinuating that I know everything. I will be the first to admit that I do not know everything and there is always more to learn. I was simply pointing out the fact that you have no idea if a proper risk assessment was done cause in fact it was done and I was not the supervisor...
Your assumption that a proper job briefing and risk assessment is just that, an assumption. We perform a job briefing for every job site we encounter and often we do multiple briefings throughout the day as situations change. Clearly you have never had a new ground guy that doesn't follow...
So I have never posted about my injury or shared too much about it on social media because I was actually embarrassed and self conscious about it for quite a while, but i have realized that it had helped make me into the person that I am today and that my story can help others prevent potential...
I do not have any "phantom pains" if that is what you are referring to, however I do have other recurring issues to deal with like splitting skin and random aches and pains but nothing serious and I still count my blessings whenever I recall the incident. I could have lost so much more then a...
Mac's post reminded me of something I found earlier this summer. I think it was actually a road kill that someone threw into the tree judging by how flat it was and it's proximity to the road but that's just a guess...
It's not just rope that travels that fast when sucked into a chipper...I had a throw line sucked into the chipper at that same speed. Long story short it was a new ground guy and me not having the sense to stop him from chipping while I was setting lines... Anyways I'm very lucky only lost a...
this is the neck tether I have been repping for about two years or so. I really like it have had no issues with it getting caught on anything. I prefer the simplicity of the neck tether to the harness but that's just me... Not to mention it was way easier to make then the overbuilt suspenders I...
If you are looking for a safe mobile tie in point i would be looking into something along these lines as opposed to a spider lift. http://www.spydercrane.com/spydercranes
@Steve Connally I ran the mic wires in the same hole that I ran the speaker wires in the top of the ear muff. I haven't worked with it yet but I have a good feeling about it.
