    Echo 2511t bumper spikes

Those look AWESOME!! Still have 'Lrg' 3-point dogs on my 2511t even though I don't (and fear) using them :p (Is that set from ebayer "CustomChainsawParts", by chance? Have gotten my 660's and 590 spikes and skid-plates from them, all have had OEM level quality cannot recommend them highly...

How would you go about choosing an entirely new location to work as a climber?

I like how you put it Re the gene pool / variety am going to do some googling on that, the trees where I'm from (MA) are far better (not interested in returning to MA though, and while FL lacks a winter the summers are just brutal especially if you're climbing w/o any shade which is a VERY...

"New Member" description under username even on >3yrs accounts?

Feel very silly posting this but thought it odd seeing myself still tagged as a 'new' member after a few years' participation, I know it's the most trivial thing to ask about but here I am being trivial :D

How would you go about choosing an entirely new location to work as a climber?

What things do/would you look for in locations (anywhere in the US) when trying to evaluate where you'd want to live as a climber/arborist? I've been climbing in central FL for several years now...cannot say I would recommend it, lol! I got sick of a few aspects of contract-climbing so I went...

Chainsaw-hooks that "stay in-place"? Loved Edelrid, HATE my Evo...

I've checked photo&video of the Evo today, in-hopes that this week perhaps I'll find it to be more useful than a large wire-gate 'biner which is basically all it is right now, I've tightened it using the top, middle & bottom 'grooves' on its spline and it always flops around, always more...

Possible to make a 3' long loop (6' cordage) of 3/4" Polydyne?

Thanks guys appreciate the replies, think I'm gonna pass on making loops as now there's 2 pieces (1/2" polydyne as well as the 3/4", was using my 355t for pruning type cuts lol) so just gonna make spliced-ends (maybe 1 end maybe both), using those generic steel thimbles, have found them soooo...

[Climbers] Any reasons to hold-off (or reconsider) buying an Echo 2511T?

Re my 355t, I am still very interested in hearing thoughts on what's better: - throw it on the bench, have it apart / port it / power it up, and - in that time - find a used ignition coil (or buy one for $70, if/when I have a "hot-ish 355t" except its coil :P ) Or, - "Part it out", I mean...

[Climbers] Any reasons to hold-off (or reconsider) buying an Echo 2511T?

Sorry, ADHD + passion = rambly sometimes, thankfully your post MORE THAN answered what I needed (just got one this afternoon, had to pay nearly $500 with tax, seems the entire lineup has jumped-price recently even the 590 was $40, IE 10% more expensive, than what I was charged like ~3-4mo ago!)...

    freezing point of canola oil

I always forget how lucky I am in this context, being in FL, have not even considered a petrol-based bar oil for probably a year now, being in-tree breathing a mist of Oak dust & bar-oil, and subsequent cleaning & maintenance, even storage & transport, are so much nicer knowing it's simple...

Possible to make a 3' long loop (6' cordage) of 3/4" Polydyne?

LOL I forgot, may as well add the same Q but for: -1/2" polydyne, - ~5.15' long Yup, also nicked that one yesterday....was kinda over-doing it on the ropes, even used them to hold the fatter logs so I could make my under-cuts before placing the log on-ground :P solo rigging FTW lol!!

Possible to make a 3' long loop (6' cordage) of 3/4" Polydyne?

(to be clear, am not looking for "how to", am plenty comfortable w/ the doing, just hesitant because I can't get the bury-length I'd want for 3/4"....but I am getting that end-of-bury crossover where I can further bolster things, guess in my mind that if I nail that tails-crossover in the middle...

Possible to make a 3' long loop (6' cordage) of 3/4" Polydyne?

I guess I mean "Possible to actually make, and have at least 4/5ths spec ABS"? Just nipped one of my p.dyne slings yesterday and now it's too-short to use with the anchor on its end, but it does have a nice unmolested ~6.25' section (yes I've nipped other spots on this thing before, it's a...

[Climbers] Any reasons to hold-off (or reconsider) buying an Echo 2511T?

tl;dr -- IF you're a climber looking for a climbsaw, what reasons should give you pause from running to the Echo 2511t? ~~~~~~~~~~~ I loved my 25cc default/go-to climbsaw but it died recently, didn't replace it and was gonna do so w/ a 2511t but, loving my 355t (18") so much, I just began...

    Looking for the ideal rope.

Too bad to hear that Re Scandere, had thought it was Yale's "bigger type of Mercury", obviously BiFrost is their 11mm, newer/marketing "answer" to Samson's amazing Mercury!! How, precisely, are you noting this 'elasticity/bounce'? I ask because I hear this complaint enough that, when swapping...

(pics in-thread) Q's on how much $ you'd ask for removing this limb, also what # of pieces you'd take it in?

I was a contract-climber but wanted to "go solo" so I didn't have to give so much of the total $$ to people who don't even want to work (ie just want to get more crews & income..) SO...tl;dr.... What would you guys have charged for removing, and disposing-of, this Oak limb over a vinyl fence...

[legal] Want to remove tree with lanky-limb that goes over-fence into neighboring yard, w/ uncooperative neighbor...can I cut&chuck to their yard?

WOW I am lucky they did not know that!!! Man I forgot to update this...will find pics to include here...but yeah I was 100% all over that airspace!! My client's tree, its trunk began in her yard but the splitting to limbs was basically on&past the fence, so it was basically just 'use a zipline...

How to best clean air-filters? Can you use brake-fluid? Other basic maintenance Q's :)

Oh and I'd LOVE thoughts on "carb spitback plates"! I heard "tinman" on youtube talk about a saw "sometimes" spitting-back through the carb....I thought ALL units do this (hence the inclusion of spitback plates on almost every build...) But recently I got the 1st-of-2 of these kit/clone 660's...

How to best clean air-filters? Can you use brake-fluid? Other basic maintenance Q's :)

Love it thanks!! Is this on all types of filters? If unsure, I'd love to at least know whether this is for "dry" filter media, or "oiled filter media"? The latter is the type you literally soak, then squeeze-out, with oil before ever using (see MaxFlo filters for the ms660) I'm using 'regular'...

Curious what you guys think of my "shorty buries" on tails of my Ultraslings :) (Pic in-thread to illustrate!)

a close-up of the shorter one, again this has a TON of lock-stitching, and (obviously!) ends w/ tape securing the true-end!
