Should be 2 adjustment screws but they are a pain to get the limiter plugs out without the tool.
Haven't messed much with the 280 but the other echo trimmers I have played with have really restrictive mufflers
I dont understand trying to save a buck on oil....lots of quality oils at affordable prices.
red armor @ $3 for 2.5 gal, amsoil sabre @ $12 qt, dolmar/makita @ $2.75 for 2.5gal, jred/husky @ $3 or less for 2.5 gal. Lucas @ $8 qt
all of those options are affordable and worth the tiny bit of...
Echo pole saw pluses.
Extra reach, better/stronger pole, cheaper parts, 2 stroke engine, 4 foot extension available that gives you a total of something like 16' of length, just overall much better design.
Downfalls of the stihl pole saw.
4 mix engine, less length, pole isn't nearly as strong or...
Echo claims they are all pro grade.... They base that on EPA emissions testing versus the more common construction techniques that most others use.
Example if you don't know what I'm talking about is,
Stihl considers them pro if they have mag cases. Their pro saws are EPA rated for 300 hours...
261....I don't think echo has anything that can compare. Everything echo has that is comparable power wise is bigger and heavier, everything that is the same weight/size is under powered compared to a 261.
460/461 would compare to a 800 echo in cc but that is about it. Echo will be under...
200/201 compared to a 355 is one of those cases where you can end up with 95% of the saw for 50% of the money.
Similar power, similar weight.
Personally I think the echo is more comfortable to use and has a slightly better filter system. It is odd to use left handed though because of the...
a little better.
192=270T
201T=355T
241=490
261=????
362=620PW
personally i wouldnt really compare the bigger models unless your after savings/value and dont mind losing some performance in the process. pick the models/size your interested in most and i will go in depth a little more. It is...
stihl is 90 days, husky/jred is 1 year, dolmar 2 years, echo chainsaws are 1 year/trimmers,blowers ect are 2 year
that is the commercial warranty period.
consumer warranty gets complicated.
dolmar= 2 years
echo= 5 years
stihl, jred, husky varies depending on if you buy their oil or premix gas...
get more specific on what size or price range saws your trying to compare. Echo vs Stihl vs Jred vs Husky vs Dolly is such a broad question that its hard to answer.
Pole saws=Echo is hands down the winner every time. This one isnt up for debate to me.
Best value= Echo/Dolmar in 75% of the...
It was not fun losing money on every sale. the price drop on the 355 and 590 was painful. thankfully i had a heads up on the 500p switch so it wasnt nearly as bad.
I couldnt bring myself to buy anything but a 355T with prices being the way they are. What is the appeal to the 271 and 303? Weight?
CS-271 $299
CS-303 $329
CS-355 $349
Brads gills are amazingly hard to do and make look good. I have tried a few times and gave up. Made a die to stamp out a stock style deflector. Drill appropriate size hole, add mesh for spark arrester, bolt deflector on. cant hardly screw that up.
how much smoother is the 1/4" chain for cutting small(1/2-2") branches? it easy to tell the difference when switching from 3/8lp to .325 to 3/8 but i've never ran something with 1/4" chain.
i dont think so...i get some time i will dig up pics from that thread to refresh my memory on exactly what he is doing. By now he may be doing them totally different though. that first 661 that he posted pics of was from over a year ago
It should be noted for the people that havent heard of this before, the epoxy he is using isnt like anything you would go buy at the local hardware store.
he is using high quality, very expensive epoxy that IIRC is aircraft grade epoxy....something like $50-100 a can stuff so no comparison to...
that is my thoughts on it too. something about a big chunk of epoxy jsut laying in the bottom of the intake doesnt feel right but time will tell. Im sure there will be some issues down the road....there are bound to be at least a few saws that the epoxy didnt quite bond good enough and with the...
there was no offense meant by that...just pointing out where we were and how far we have come at calling something a woods port....epoxied intakes were a thing for cookie cutters just a few years ago and now randy is doing them on a woods ported saw.
work saw now and work saw 10 yrs ago mean totally different things. now we are getting epoxied intakes and calling it a work saw....i dont think even 5 yrs ago that would have passed as a "work saw"
