I’m curious if there is a knot that can capture the working side of the line (midline), while also installing the retrievable side at the same time. Basically setting up a running knot without having to feed the tail thru a butterfly and no extra hardware… heard it’s been done!
Thanks!
Just wondering what the benefit/ point of plunging straight through the front and center of your face notch would be? Would this be a safer alternative to cut a deeper than normal face notch that bypasses the center of gravity?? Lemme know!
By including a running bowline (capturing the standing part of the line) before tying the Blake’s hitch you can replicate the slack tending pulley effect! Rope on rope won’t be as smooth as having the pulley, but it does work!
Has anyone here had the opportunity to go through the SPRAT training? If so, I’d like to know if there’s any correlation or techniques that I could take from it and apply to my tree climbing skills?? I’m thinking aerial rescue/ modern SRS techniques. Thanks!!
Any recommendations or resources you have in regards to a specific aerial rescue scenario. There is a climber working aloft in conjunction with a bucket operator. It’s a two person crew and the climber becomes an unconscious victim. What ways would your crews go about a similar situation? Would...
Some folks I work with like a 1:1 climb... others like a 2:1 climb. We are currently equipped with a dwindling spool of tachyon ash for both parties. What are some of your preferred middle of the road favs for climb lines??
Given that the tie in point is able to support the weight of two climbers, is it a feasible option to use the retrieval side of a canopy anchor( alpine butterfly cinch) as an access line to rescue a climber??
It’s a bummer the videos Johnny Pro put up have been taken down. Does anybody know how he base ties, sets up the “floating” TRT anchor, and retrieves the whole thing?? The technique seems useful for the decurrent trees I work on.
Love to know what y’all are running as far as a foot ascenders goes. I’ve been rocking the pantin(with catch) but would love suggestions. I dig the pantin for its compact size. Any thoughts on the jet step???
I typically climb without gloves because I have always felt that I’ve had a better grip, and like the feeling of the actual tree as I climb. I have tried several different types of climbing gloves but still end up taking them off mid climb due to my hands being drenched in sweat. Any...
Side work is picking up to the point where I’m going to be needing insurance to be legit. I also want to look into basic costs for contract climbing liability insurance. Any thoughts on the best way to get a good deal on all of this?
