i'm not always methodical, sometimes i start running before thinking about where i'm goin :loco: maybe Dave was using a new Runner &/ or didn't readjust his bollard. who knows. the Runner can be a bit of a finicky device.
i ran my cougar blue into the ground. was a great rope.
for me, the Rope Wrench is the easier to use tool, especially when making micro adjustments (like letting out just an inch of slack so you can reach something). all around user friendly, easy up & down, ready to go on any rope.
the effortless slack tending (or even self tending), ability to make...
i use the mini porty in the tree all the time, especially when i want maximum control (i.e. the ground guys can not be trusted at all:nocausagracia:). the ability to set friction, have it run unmanned, then stop it & lock it off whenever you want is unmatched. when i want a bigger WLL than it or...
hmmm, i wonder why? maybe personal preference? we all run our rigs a lil diff. i like to rip around on mine so they're set for speed & only come out for the biggest trees. they're also very broken in ;)
I would say the tightness of the weave of the jacket, I found the RR very easy to engage on...
with HOBBS u can lift/ tension/ pull and go straight into a run (preferably two groundies to make it happen), can't do that with any other device. u can also run 1" rope on it, don't know that u can really do that on any other device either.
hahaha, yeah :D:envidioso I wasn't there for the last day so it was just X and his super groundie Adam. we had gotten the stick down to where he could just crane it out but after we had double Safebloced those chunks out of the top he was amped to experiment with it more in the name of rigging...
because the rope is doubled up like that when it goes over there are 3 legs moving so the groundie has to let it run 3x's as fast to achieve a normal run. so they basically have to let it fly thru their hands and try to stop it. it seems intimidating but they gotta remember because the rope is...
the rigging set up was a design of @theXman basically a controlled speedline set up. catch limbs with the rigging line, stop them, then tension the speedline with the winch (not to tight) & use the rig line to control the descent. as for the tree, it was a double lead white oak. the lead closest...
a bit more of an artsy video featuring a track from "All Them Witches". great band, if you ever have a chance to see them live do it. the drummer is a tree man
