i think that Notch Gargoyle is not really meant to be a traditional rigging line. it's a class II construction, like Amsteel II, high modulus fibers on the inside (ex: dyneema, technora), abrasion resistant cover on the outside. it's a high strength, low stretch, likely very stiff rope meant for...
yes, soon-ish. it's a slow process cuz work, life, etc, etc.
as will be stated in the intro, i dont feel am not qualified to teach people rigging over the internet from scratch. there are many greats books, dvds, demos and in person trainers for that. i do feel i can speak on urban rigging...
did you manage to get back in? for all those that don't know there is a support email where you can hit me up about problems or questions. it's:
theschultzeffect@gmail.com
btw, thanks for remembering the "c" in Schultz ;)
size 11.5 US (45 Euro). worn 3 times. bought them to try something different from my loggers but it turns out i'm just too used to loggers. got a few scuffs on the outside, brand new on the inside. $200 + shipping.
i've had an SB turn over in the sling. what seems to happen is when the splice loosens up a bit the weight of the rope can "flip" the SB before you snug it up to the notch, it's real easy to not even noticed it happened.
that's a big ol 3,000lb log you had on there, glad nothing bad happened!
haha! that's certainly kind of you to say but i'm not as young as you think, only 3 years younger than yourself actually. i'm no prodigy, just put alot of miles on this make and model ;)
and yeah, i love crane work (when i can get it) cuz it's a new challenge and a whole different way to...
true but unfortunately the main problem i see is people not knowing that they don't know :loco: the reality of the numbers just doesn't even occur to them.
I wasn't giving you a hard time or anything. I've never worked with the triple thimble. I was just trying to figure out if it does offer much more friction with 1/2" rope. The Safebloc works better with 5/8" rope, it barely makes any friction with 1/2" rope. Alot of times i'll take an extra wrap...
the MBS for 1/2" True Blue is 7,300lbs, add a rope strength reducing running bowline (-40%), and you're down to 4,380lbs, divide by 10 for a WLL of 438lbs (or 5, which is a mistake in my opinion if you're negative rigging, giving you 876lbs WLL), either way you must have the best rope smoking...
first mistake: not building a rigging system that can handle the worst case scenario (a no run scenario, whether on purpose or accident) aka not doing the math!
when designing systems, rigging or climbing, especially negative rigging, they should be able to handle the maximum force that could...
Watch the entire Schultz Effect, go to gum.com/poCT then take this quiz. E-mail your answers to theschultzeffect@gmail.com along with your full name and ISA certification number and i will submit it to the ISA. If you pass the test you will receive 1.5 CEU's. You must e-mail me from the e-mail...
not sure which video you're referring too. i've done it in a few videos. In August Hunicke's A-team video i was experimenting with creating enough friction from the double blocking so that i could self lower negative rigged logs. i had a THT on the spar and double beast sling on the piece. The...
i talk about it a little in "the Schultz Effect" but i haven't shown it on my YouTube Channel. I did two videos on the "Triple Threat" which is a very similar concept brought together in one product where you have three climbing lines joined by one ring (let your imagination run wild) :reloco: I...
something Jared Abrojena came up, it's a cool different way to work a tree SRT. basically you work your way up your line till you're to the top, unweigh your line and make an alpine butterfly, then take a 2nd climbing line, make an alpine or other midline knot in the middle of that rope and...
