Im running a 2002 Sterling Acterra forestry struck with the 3126 cat in it. She isn't winning any races but parts are super easy and affordable to get and I don't have to deal with DEF and all that good stuff.
Typical day consist of stopping at the gas station for guys to grab whatever garbage they want for the day. They willingly start 15 minutes early on their time so we can stop every day. Everyone gets a google pin in case we get split in traffic. Show the job, set up, brush out tree, rake, then...
I send a past notice after 30 days. It states that they have 7 days to pay past due balance. After that I will charge 5% compounding interest for every 30 day period, $25 per additional notice sent, and any additional legal fees require to secure debt owed..... I send this as certified signature...
I use a dedicated line in my masdaam as well. I usually have a large eye spliced onto a 40ft section and attach it to whatever line im pulling via a split tail made out of 7/16 t rex hollow braid. I have deadeye made of 3/8 amsteel that i use for an anchor typically.
I used new england multline 2 for the longest time but that rope was to a point where i didn't have 100% confidence in it anymore so I tried something new... to no avail!
Tried using pelican 1/2" matador 24 strand recently... with terrible results (flattened under high load and started slipping back out). It was suggested on a retailers website that it worked well in the masdaam puller. Was just wondering if I should go back to 3 strand or if anyone has found...
American edge has good knives, very good chance that Wesspur has them as well. I order mine through wesspur typically. I order replacement hardware through McMaster Carr. I change hardware every other time I rotate.
In my opinion I don't think companies need to waste so much time/money on advertising. Bid the work for what it's worth for your company, do solid work, act professional.... and always always leave a super clean jobsite when finished. You can do the nastiest hardest takedown perfectly but if you...
I quit buying because the website wasn't accurate with in stock items and shipping times became slower. Perhaps things have gotten better after the transition. Im content with the current places I order from. I fully understand conglomerate subsidiaries, my regular job is for one of the largest...
My go to while doing tree work is a de-assisted benchmade barrage. Outside of tree work i have a good assortment/collection that I enjoy rotating out. Both folding and custom fixed blades
We welded hinges onto our clean out. At the end of the day we just swing it open and run it for a few seconds with the wheels running each direction. When satisfied that it’s clean just shut it down and pin it back into position. Keep a small self igniting MAP gas torch on the truck just in case.
I have a few sections of the "ape" that ive spliced into slings and its held up very well. Feels good in the hand, firm but not overly stiff. Ill throw in another vouch for their hollow braid ropes as well, splice easy and super tough.
My preferred method is to attach a port o wrap and use that as a tie off. I just wrap it until there's no room left then give it a couple cleat hitches to lock it in. My alternative method is Maasdam rope puller, for attachment to the the puller... Im gonna catch some hate for this. I spliced a...
