    Rope Wrench Ruminations

So you tried the lockjack with SRT and the wrench TreeBeard? I had a chance to try and lock jack when I worked with a climber in central park. The LJ wouldn't hold me unless the RW was fully engaged, but to me it sounds like it held you just fine. Interesting find.

    Rope Wrench Pulleys

So I've been running my RW set up with a Pinto for a few days now, gotten a few climbs in, nothing too hard, so still has a ways to go, but so far I'm digging it. Took a little while to get used too, but I like it. I run the same set up as Waldo has pictured, just a different hitch cord. One...

    Safety Glasses, question, Oakleys?

Oh, I knew the lenses were good. Just didn't know what the deal was with the frames.

    Safety Glasses, question, Oakleys?

Today I was able to check out an Oakley store up in OH, and I got to try on a few different pairs of frames. The few I tried didn't have the ANSI rating on the frame, but I wanted to check online and be sure. This is one pair I was looking into: http://www.oakley.com/products/6724/25074 My...

    Spur help

Hey guys, need a bit of help with my new spurs. Don't know if anyone can actually help, or if I'll have to call Stein/Climbright, but here it goes. I was trying to adjust the pads on them today, after climbing in them 3 or 4 times, and I couldn't get the bolts unscrewed. I tried both an 8mm and...

    Rope Wrench Ruminations

Vortex is great stuff to run with the Wrench. Not too much bounce, the thicker feel is great, plus it makes for a much smoother hitch action. And since its being used SRT style, you don't really notice the extra weight at all.

    Winter gloves

Yeah, I don't mind the cold. My only problem with it is its always my hands that have trouble staying warm.

    Winter gloves

The North Face gloves: http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/sc-g...variationId=JK3 I think these are the Marmot gloves, not for certain though http://marmot.com/products/windstopper_glove_1816?p=216,204

    Winter gloves

Had a quick question about various winter gloves. Normally I use the atlas winter gloves and liners but either way my hands still get cold. So as I was browsing a local outdoor store I came across some insulated winter gloves that have a latex type grip on them. Not fully coated like atlas, but...

Sundays Solo river birch removal - SRT

Nice man. Lookin good. Only thing I would recommend, and you're on the right track with the monkey tail techinque, is try the ring/ring friction saver techinque to anchor at your TIP. A lot of the same benefits of the monkey's tail, just no chance of a knot sliding. Very rock solid system, been...

    Rope Wrench Pulleys

I've ran it a few times like Cary said. Just in some small Pin Oaks, so no real need to clip into anything to ascend or whatever. I just got my second Pinto in today to start playing around with it, I really like the idea and think it has promise. I like the fact that the RW faces away from you...

    Rope Wrench Feedback?

Yeah, don't anchor at your TIP with an alpine butterfly unless u plan on following the retrieval end back to the ground. You can't really redirect off an AB anchor TIP and be able to retrieve from the ground. Either use a base tie or the ring/ring FS method if u want to redirect and retrieve...

    Ladder access

Only time I really use them is like treeness. We just did a job doing road clearance on a bunch of Pin Oaks, 4 days total. No limbs the first 10 to 15 feet, just pop the ladder up and take my free 15'. Fastest method for that imo. Also use orchard ladders for hedge pruning and ornamental pruning.

Real MPG for pickups/historic gas prices

Cool sight, I concur with mine. I drive a Suzuki Grand Vitari, not a pick up or anything, but cool to see other numbers to compare with mine. I average around 20mpg

    Rope Wrench Ruminations

I second the notion of cambium damage with a base tied system. More damage can result with a base tied anchor system to a crotch than with a doubled rope running through the same union. We believe this is because twice the amount of weight is being applied at the time, combined with a "saw" like...
