Just an observation...I did a little pressure washing in the driveway yesterday. I was wearing cotton sweatpants and croc sandals with a pair of thick wool socks (yeah, don't ask me why. I don't know why I do half the things I do). Anyway, my legs got soaked from the knees down. After an hour or...
Not trying to hijack handys op, but I have a similar question. I like to take a short lanyard and a long lanyard in the tree. For the long lanyard I'm thinking of building the lightest, most compact dr t system I can, so that I can keep it in a bag on my belt. What is the smallest diameter...
Yeah, I had been using the solid pin for a while with no problems. I'll continue to use it, but I just won't use the wire safety snap to hook on to. I just put too much weight on it.
If you use a solid pin like the picture from benjo do not use the wire safety snap on the pin to attach to your chest harness to tend the system. I did, and while ascending I leaned back, putting my upper body weight into my chest harness, and the wire safety snap snapped of, causing my upper...
Thanks, eyeheart. I dont have a specific use for it. I just had a ring already, and a length of tenex from a treestuff rope grab bag so thought id give it a try. Ive not done much splicing, but this 12 strand is sure a lot easier than 16 strand or double braid!
Sorry i meant ultrasling. If im splicing an ultrasling with tenex 3/8 inch, for example, would the theoretical break strength be about double the strength of a single line of 3/8 inch tenex..
Would i be correct in estimating that the breaking strength of a multisling should be approximately double the breaking strength of the rope used to make it?
First attempts at splicing an e2e 8mm beeline and a multisling with ring from 22 feet of 5/8 inch tenex tec (i think its tenex tec). Some of the strands on my triple crossover seemed to be displaced a bit. You can see the paler color on some strands. Not sure what caused that.
I've acquired several shorter lengths of rope from tree stuff rope grab bags. Looking for ideas on what would be good uses for them. I made an ultra sling out of a 25 foot length of 3/4 inch tenex. Trying to figure out useful things for these other hanks. Any thought?

Ive only done a little bit of splicing. Each time i get frustrated with cutting the cover or core. I have to saw and gnaw at it to get through and i end up with a frazzled mess on the ends and then have to clean them up. Ive tried pocket knives, box cutters, regular scissors, and even scissors...
