What did you think is the issue with this red pine? Dried or discolored needles. We’ve had a standard summer, not particularly dry. This tree sits just north of a shallow tin roof, so my first thought was sunburn, but HO says it just started happening early this summer and has never sunburnt...
Looked into that Dirr Manual, then I read this.
The reason I like the Audubon field guide is 1. it's compact to carry and 2. it has hundreds of color photos, sorted by leaf structure, leaf type, fruit type, fall color, flower color. And the species are listed with common name. I use it a lot.
Last night I ohm tested the coil. which I understand is not ideal since the Mtronic coil is not simple but is microprocessor-based I can post the results, they were interesting to day the least.
Ah, going thru the Stihl technical manual now, it appears that the diaphragm in my carb was a bit too "stiff". My experience with other diaphragms (in older small engines, tecumseh, briggs) is they are very pliable. The one in this saw was very very thin and "snappy", not rubber-like at all...

Finally turned my trusty old Cougar into a rope bridge saddle. 1/2" Samson Arbormaster in a pair of RE TriRig paws. I'm using double-overhands on either side now. What knots does everyone here like?
Also a perfect 3-leg spider rig point without hardware. I like this, a lot.
Are you sure it won't spill when pulled in any of the 6 directions? (main line up/down, left up/down, and right up/down)
pretty much since I got it. I've tried to run it several times since I bought it and just get frustrated with how it runs.
It won't start when it's hot, and will often die at idle.
Had another Stihl shop take a look at it, they are saying cylinder is scored. I'm looking at aftermarket replacement options, preferably ones that come pre-tuned or ported. Any suggestions?
