Pipe in ground at Ash trees

It’s been here in middle Tennessee for several years. It’s pretty sad seeing all the dead Ash trees. One day I cut 11 another day 5. I’ve found a few saplings working a forestry project. Don’t know if they will survive or will the EAB will be back when they’re grown. I treated a massive one last...

Pipe in ground at Ash trees

They use they use the pipe to apply treatment. They said that depending on the condition of the tree we rotate programs applying .. Safari, Merit, and Tree-age. It looks like its work because every tree I examined had a full canopy and no signs of EAB. Craig

Pipe in ground at Ash trees

I visited Cheekwood Gardens today. They have many Ash trees seemingly unaffected by the EAB. All of them have this pipe sticking out of the ground with some sort of cap. My guess is the put insecticide in it. What can you tell me about this method?

I guess it’s dragging tail but, I didn’t know the term. I probably did it wrong but @Richard Mumford-yoyoman could explain. Rather than pulling up to end of tail, just grab a bight below your system and wrap it around a branch. Then add friction with a carabiner or hitch while walking back...

I’m working for a client that has probably 25 dead Ash. I’ve already dropped 4-5. I have some in range of targets ie. house, trees and driveway. Here’s my...

One long sketchy limb walk. This thing was pretty bouncy. In hindsight, I should have used another rope or repositioned my TIP. I used a bight in the rope under my RW to minimize a swing. @Richard Mumford-yoyoman showed me this trick at the ISA Competition in Nashville. Hey wasn’t comfortable...

    Pole saw heads or combos

Thanks folks! After researching and y’all’s advice, I decided to buy the Jameson 3 blue pole kit. On sale too. BTW…Fisker has the patent rights for my 20 year old unknown telescoping pole saw. I’ve contacted them to find out if the pruning blade is still available. I read that some people were...

    Pole saw heads or combos

I have favorite 15-20 year old power lever combo pruner with saw blade on it. I broke the pruning blade and the saw teeth are getting short from sharpening. I haven’t found a replacement blade for it. Anyway do you prefer the changeable head or the combo type and why? Was looking at Jameson and...

    Bolting or cable splitting tree

Thanks to all that commented on the discussion. HO wanted me to just drill holes and I replied with same price. I kinda figured that’s where this was going. The HO tried a DIY and got a spade bit stuck after asking a bunch of questions. I guess I’m too nice sometimes and brought my 1/2 hammer...
