I converted the old trailer I used to haul my kids around in for that purpose a few times. Worked reasonably well on gravel roads, couldn't take it down a single track though. Good for covering ground and quite stealthy
I don't own an HHx yet but from user commentary on the variety of different devices on the market, it seems that some form of easy adjustable friction is a key feature for peak performance given all the different ropes, conditions, and users.
Pounds -force, LBf, is a measurement of force. LB is an abbreviation for LBm, pounds-mass. So one is a measurement of force and the other mass. It's just like newtons and grams in the metric system.
For the price, the front half of an bike is pretty clever way to go. I like it! Hunters have devised a wide variety of different off road carts. This one is pretty spendy but a good video showing the versatility of the single wheeled design.
I started wearing steel toes after some idiot I was working with threw the wedge piece from a face cut at the chipper and bounced off the feed wheels. The point of the piece hit my boot breaking my pinkie toe. A freak accident and actually a steel toe didn't quite cover where the injury happened...
Great work on the new device! I was considering buying an HH2 this year but planning to get one of these instead. Pretty much just being a rec climber these days the weight savings alone would be nice. Even though I'm not in the industry any more, all the equipment innovations in Arboriculture...
I don't have anything to add in regard to the damage but it's possible they're not being completely upfront or misremembered when the treatment occurred. Enough times over the years I've had homeowners swear they didn't do something when all the evidence pointed to them clearly doing something...
Just a personal interest. I stopped doing tree work full time in '08 so missed the SRT revolution in Arboriculture, at least in terms of work positioning. I've always been interested in how things work and the evolution of equipment/ideas. So I wanted to do some climbing on an original to see...
I'm not THE Brydan. It was just my first saddle and used it for my handle. Unfortunately I don't really have anything to trade. My gear is all pretty old
I tend to agree with you. In the modern media world though I think people that deal with the media are getting savy enough to realize responding to every little "scandal" just keeps it in the news another cycle. By Monday morning another shiny object will pop up in the news and by Monday...
Honestly it looks like they did the ceremonial planting in that spot for the optics, centered up in front of the white house like that. From the backside pic it looks like it may not be the greatest spot to squeeze in a large oak tree. Hopefully it's just a practical issue of relocating it to a...
Don't worry I'm not trying to convert you :D...only to say it was certainly what was missing in my own life but didn't realize it till getting blindsided by a divorce I didn't see coming. When life spins out of control it becomes obvious whether the house is built on sand or stone.
I don't...
+1 on the hand ascender (wrist rocket?). I saw a vid of it before just acscending the rope and thought "that's nice". Either I was too dense or didn't read the ensuing discussion, probably both :-), but I didn't quite catch the full utility of it until seeing it in action right there. When I...
