I can't tell you how many times I have had climbers hang off my crane. Then at the end of the day tell me how hard it was. While I sat in the cab and watched them all day long.....sink my job because they're slower than ever. People think crane work is easy until they have to do it. Their is a...
I
I think that's a question for the manufacturer....not an online forum. If your concerned about safety then I would consult with them. A quick call will tell you what your safety parameters are.
@flyingsquirrel25 is correct. Yellow Birch! Lots in our forests in certain pockets up here in VT. Can be very desirable to furniture makers. Sometimes mills will request larger trees of this species.
That makes sense. There good machines.....just way overpriced. My mechanic said to steer clear of anything with DEF Fluid. Said it will be in the shop more than on the job. He said that 2010 through 2013 were especially bad years.
I have 60K for a new chip truck.....but if I stay away from DEF...
I have heard nothing but bad things with the MaxForce engine. Not sure what the issue was and could have just been certain years. I would look into that.
A bucket does not need to be 100% level like a crane does. Also, you have to be careful because most often on bucket trucks they are not outriggers....they are stabilizers and not always designed to hold the weight of the total truck for long periods of time.
Not much has been serious in this post...but this is a serious comment.
Set goals!! That is what works for me to keeps me motivated. I write then down and try to achieve three goals a year. Can be whatever you want. I find that having goals keeps me motivated, engaged, and always pushing...
Owning your business is a game of chess. Its all about positioning yourself. I spent my first year doing just that....getting my business off the ground and able to work on its own. I worked all the jobs, did all the office stuff, all the payroll and taxes, sold every job and then went and did...
I did this exact thing twice...in only three years. One was a company that was around for 44 years...and another for 10 years. I would recommend going with one name. Especially if you have no plans to run a second business. If you keep two names then you will need to EIN numbers, and two...
That is a true statement!! We have enough dirt driveways around these parts that its not a huge issue. I tend to plywood in on the front lawn and keep the chipper on the driveway if I'm worried about the structural integrity of the driveway.
One thing about using a crane verses climbing comes...
Are any of Ricks equipment any good? I too have noticed he has a lot of stuff....but they prices are way too high. Plus, wasn't sure if he was just another Tri State Forestry that just throws paint on things.
It doesn't dump. I think it will be fine to unload. I wouldn't want to dump a load of logs anyways. Most often they need to be placed in a log pile, or stacked at the mill. The one thing is to make sure their is a trap door to clean out the bark and debris that can collect up. Its also important...
Since we purchased the crane....I'm kinda a fan of Peterbuilt now. I'm trying to get a loan for 2.5 million to buy all new peterbuilt equipment so it all matches:)
Log trucks are hard to find in any good shape. They are out their......but you have to keep looking and be patient. I looked for over a year before I found mine. In my area their are tons of loggers....but they don't always re-invest back into their trucks and often only fix what stops them from...
I once heard a quote that said "you make money to grow, not grow to make money". This growth is not motivated by money. Simply in trying to keep more of our customers happy. Let me say this!!
We did a great three day job for a customers. She was thrilled by the work we did and she referred us...
Yes, I have two of them right now. They have made a pretty good commitment to the company and want to be around for the long haul. I think they see where this business could go...what it could develop into.
