Just put in the order for a RW, chest box, and hand ascender. Thinking this will be a nice new climbing experience.
Now, with the chest box advancing the hitch, is the hand ascender even necessary? Maybe for a better grip and limb walking, but no need to tether it to the hitch climber, correct...

So some of the srt ropes (referring to sherrilltree's rope chart) seem to have a high elongation %. But that is at 540lbs. I know some ropes are meant to stay fairly static until a certain weight preventing injury. But how static are they? Looking at the kernmeleon (or whatever it's called)...
Rope wrench or hitch hiker? Personal opinions? Pros/cons?
Would be appreciated.
The main reason I am looking into srt is the dagnab fir trees. The moving rope just gets hammered by sap. Frustrating.
Went up srt today. Tried coming down on the prusik and a munter hitch. Then the prusik and an 8. Both seized up quick. Is it just too damn tight without a rope wrench? Or maybe my combo. I was on the 12.7mm vortex. With a 10mm epicord distal hitch.
Anybody use a pantin and a haas? If so, where are you clipping your haas bungee to? I clipped it to my hitch climber pulley, but it was not taught enough. Anyone got a higher spot? I don't have a hand ascender, but I imagine that would be a good spot.
AND... This may sound silly, but you DO...
This is an old thread.. so sorry for revitalizing.
But with srt setups, if your pulled up your hitch climber with either neck tether, chest, or hand tether, you remove it to descend, yes? Now, does this mean that if you missed a limb or spotted a hanger, that you must reconnect that...
Didn't know where else to post this... this thread seemed right.
So as long as you are doing only an ascent srt and intend on switching over to DdRT once reaching the TIP, going up with only a prusik is fine, yes?
I went up today with a footlocking prusik, foot ascender, and knee ascender...
So with the two part foot strap, you think you can get away with NOT wearing lineman boots and the bottom of the shank no shifting? Is that the purpose here?
First day in Tree impression:
Every saddle has some getting used too, so there will be another post at a later time I am sure.
The lower leg loop buckles that hold the position is plastic. Not for life support, and it weighs less, but I can see stepping on it a couple times while getting...
Just put an order in for the MB. Stoked. :bananahappy:
My edge harness is starting to give out in a couple places. Wish I would have been able to wait for a reply from new tribe in making a custom one with the large side Ds. So we will check it out.
