American beech trees seem to hold water at unions as they frequently form “cups”. I’ve never seen this damage the tree. Like Mick said regarding lack of fungus underwater, decay doesn’t seem to happen in anoxic environments. I think of how mills stored logs in ponds to prevent decay.
I love my Keen wide width boots. The single W is like 2-3W of most other manufacturers it seems. Their normal width is wider than most as well. They are used for everything but longer spur climbs. Still waterproof nearly a year later. Only worked in about 15 hours a week though.
All you did was a tuning? No other mods?
I’ll be picking up a 2511 in the next few months or so. I’ve used John’s (from Tree House) and love it. A ported one must be great.
I picked one up at a local tool consignment shop for $175 a couple days ago. Looks like it was used once and put on a shelf.
Ran it on one job so far and I like it.
Has anyone done a muffler mod on one of these?
Interesting enough, my app kept telling me white spruce. Thank you for your response!
yeah, most don’t have enough room. They get in beds close to the house and start to infringe on the structure. I’m pretty sure they cannot be trimmed back as all the foliage is exterior on the ones I’ve seen.
I tried Plantin today in the light. It got about 7 correct and none wrong. However, it offered 2 choices for my Japanese maple. It gave Norway as a possibility.
A purple magnolia was given 3 options, one being purple magnolia.
About 60% of the plants identified had “toxic to animals” and...
Thanks for the responses. No one said you couldn’t have more than 1 app, right? Maybe I’ll play with the ones you listed, over the next few days.
Did the $50 lifetime for Plantin last night. It got 2 out of 3 but it was done by outdoor lighting and had limited subjects bright enough to test...
That’s crazy to think about. As if you don’t have enough to worry about while in a tree.
Im asked questions by neighbors but never figured on any violence.
I’m surprised at the lack of grinding. I hand file on the job site occasionally with the saw in my lap, in my garage in a vice, and on an Oregon grinder mounted on a bench in my garage. I like the grinder to restore perfect angles and it’s a good opportunity to dress the bar, lube the needle...
A shame that no one on the ground was able to see it and intervene.
I’m not anyone special, a good climber, or very experienced. I’m afraid of leaving my TIP in when taking a top so I pull it out before I even face it. It sucks not having the support but I could easily forget to remove my...
I haven’t noticed the crimson king variety anywhere except for purposeful plantings.
The traditional variety seems to spread quite easily around here, except, like you said, not in our forests.
I’d like to try felling levers. (Both small aloft and large on the ground) They seem very popular in the European countries while I can’t say I’ve ever seen one on a U.S. climber
