I’m also really not a big fan of the attitude that you’re lucky to have a job, or that you’re paycheck is your reward. A good company is a symbiosis. Employees are just as responsible for a company’s success as the owner is. That should be acknowledged and valued. I’ve owned my own company for...

Not enough info to say much here. Where are you? What crew and equipment do you run? What's your hourly rate? Being the cheapest isn't necessarily desirable.
What I was told is that it's because the clutch system is different on the electric saws. An electric motor has more torque than a similar gas motor as well.
I was told by a Stihl rep that their electric saw will cut through a 4 layer pant no problem. I guess it'll be back to the drawing board for saw pants!
Anybody care to comment on the new Pfanner Gladiator Vent Chainsaw Pants at Treestuff? I'm in the market for new pants for my crews this summer. I was planning on the Arbortec's, as I was very disappointed in my last Pfanner's, durability wise, but these new ones have piqued my interest.

What a tragedy. I can't imagine having to inform the parents of that boy that my negligence caused their child's death.
That is probably my single zero tolerance policy. On their first day, during chipper training my guys are told that if I ever see them on the chipper deck in any way while the...
This really hits home. I'm currently dealing with my municipality. I have their pruning contract but just found another company doing some removals that nobody else was given the opportunity to bid on. They probably would have gotten it anyway, they are giving crazy low prices ($50ish an hour...
I'd say no. By doing good work for a local hack, you simply better his reputation for him. If he can't do the work, he shouldn't take the job. You won't gain anything by working for someone else, under their name for (likely) a reduced hourly rate.
No advice on the skin condition but I've found that by religiously using a boot dryer I don't need to disinfect my boots anymore. I also only wear Smartwool or Darn Tough socks.
