    Identify this rope please

Anyone know what rope this is? Was in some donated rope from Arbsession but its not labeled. I've checked their website and can't find it. Might have been from a limited color run.

    Marlow vesper

Would a class 1 double braid splice be fine for this line? https://arbsession.com/marlow-vesper-11-8mm.html Has anybody used this rope and have an opinion on it?

    Splicing Tachyon

Hi @ARLO Just got a length of tachyon and was refreshing myself on the splicing vids and resources I used last time I did a tight eye in this rope...many years ago. Came across this thread. I see you still have a video up: The video looks like how I remember doing it last time. Did you...

    Canopy Anchors

Anybody seen the "American Clacker" yet? Buddy showed his to me and I loved it so much I made my own. I think he had Arbsession make him one. Its essentially two ring'n'ring friction savers that are bound by a floating ring. The savers are oriented opposite each other and each large ring of...

The most wrecked chipper knives I've ever seen.

This is the result of the rope winch on the chipper getting sucked in...had a steel hook on the end of the line.

Looking for aerial lift of Connecticut 52’ upper boom

not intending to derail this thread but can you post a pic of the crack if visible or share how it happened if it was a known event, or what lead you to decide to look close enough at it to down the boom etc. Just curious. I've been around aerial lifts for 20 years have not been around one...

Bad Petzl, Good Bartlett Arborist Supply

If I get the replacement buckle and fix the harness, you want to buy it? $75 shipped to you. Thing is pretty mint condition. Size 1 I realize you asked about the carabiners but offering the harness up for grabs anyways. I do like the ball locks and rope snaps they have and don't plan on...

Bad Petzl, Good Bartlett Arborist Supply

Abstract - Petzl pissed me off. Bartlett Arborist Supply made it right despite it not being their issue. I purchased the Petzl Newton FAST International fall arrest harness in Sept 2024. Cost $120 at the time...

That is one high end neck tether! That fancy DMM carabineer is so much over kill! I'm being sarcastic lol. That tether is living life on both sides of the train tracks lol.

I'm always against elastic things that can bust me in the face if something gives. If it's going over your shoulder, it will recoil on that path if the clip breaks for whatever reason. If you're going over your shoulder, perhaps just use your lanyard.

IL 2025 TCC and my first time competing

Well at the age of 41, and after having volunteered to setup and tree tech at quite a few TCCs, I was a first time competitor this past weekend in Illinois. I studied the rule book, watched videos of past competitors and events, didn't exactly practice any one specific thing, forced myself to...

    New device from buckingham

Both of those lines bounced like a bungee cord for me when doing SRS (not using the device discussed here). Not my favorites for climbing.

    Chipper winch line protection

I make pocket slings out of 1/2" tenex tec. 15' of rope gets me a 7' sling with plenty of pockets. Sling goes around log/branch, hook goes to pocket closest to the log. If we are on pavement, sling goes close to end of log/branch and someone can walk along side it with a scoop shovel under the...

What standard are tree climbing harnesses required to meet in the US

While I was perusing the preview version of the proposed new z133 I came across the language regarding tree harness standards. I copied and pasted that text in the attached pic. I was reading another publication that mentioned that tree climbing harnesses must meet the ANSI 359.1 standard...
