I never knew the old Treestuff but, as far as the new one... my orders shipped quickly and for free, I got one of those sweat band things with each order and they sent me an extra Austrian Chainsaw Lanyard. No complaints from me. I could care less about marketing e mails, I just unsubscribe...
I was playing around with the Uniscender and the Tree Austria 3.2.
To give a reference on the Tree Austria, I'm 6"1 and 235lbs, I hesitantly went with the size medium because I have really large legs and I'm not a medium in much of anything. However, it fits really well with plenty of...
I see it's been a couple months since I've posted here. I have a job booked for Friday but that will be the first largerish pruning and removal job I've done in a while. I've been doing a lot of $100-$200 pruning jobs on smaller oak trees using just my Tacoma, 5x8 trailer and Silky Saw. Not very...
I was in lawn care at the time and I didn't notice much of a difference in business, people still didn't want to cut their grass and they still had a job. They were upside down in their mortgages, but, they still were making payments and mostly employed. I lost some business as some people did...
I use Quick Books, and bill on site. I can swipe a credit card or they can pay online with a credit card or direct bank transfer. QB is the shit. I don't even accept checks anymore.

Just like tree guys, not all fire departments are equal... the quality response you get from a well funded professional/career department is likely going to be vastly different than the quality received from an all volunteer department in rural America.

When I initially switched from mowing to primarily tree work, I actually changed the name of the business to my tree company's name and kept mowing for a while. People who need their yard cut don't typically care if you're even a business, much less what your business name is. However, knowing...
Steve, how to you like it for pruning and sitting in for long periods? I'm fairly dissatisfied with the comfort offered by my sequoia SRT. The MCRS and Tree Austria are two contenders.

Speed of ascent was one of my concerns, however it looks like from watching videos people can still make it up pretty quickly and easily, although I can really move with my current setup. Where I feel I lose time is in work positioning.
Having to connect and disconnect an 8 to move around I...
I've found when doing removals that most people, key work being most... people really don't care about anything other than price. The higher the risk the more they care about all of the other things but price seems to be the number one driving factor. They don't care about how you look, how you...
I think the Munter hitch, biner and cheap harness is probably the best solution. If you don't want to clank the carabiner around you could pre rig it in the tree.

Thanks guys! I didn't realize any of those options were particularly hard on the rope. I'm checking them all out. Any thoughts on the Petzl RIG? it looks like a nice system, especially when used its conjunction with a pulley. Also, keep in my here in Florida my ascents and descents aren't likely...
I'm thinking I may need a Rock Exotica unicender. I currently climb SRT using a Texas Climbing System and then switch over to a Rock Exotica micro 8 for repelling and work positioning but the unicender has me pretty intrigued.
Edit: also eyeballing the Petzl RIG which looks like it could...
