    Hitch Question

I was going away from hitches until I heard about the arbsession hitch on Treebuz somewhere. I had same problems and went to mechanicals but for me this hitch was a gamechanger. Now i'm . . back to hitches (and the arbsession caralink V2 tether setup). Maybe give it a whirl? Cheers

    Battery ground saws

I do like my battery blowers but am noticing that on two or three year old batteries, they aren't lasting nearly as long at -25C as they did when newer/ first year (even though light indicates "full charge" indoors on the workbench). I have nothing to quantify how much less, except they only...

    Battery ground saws

There was a discussion a while back about bar oil - because (is it just my hypothesis here) battery saws run colder in low temps, really lot lighter chain oil may help with the drain?

    Battery ground saws

It is a mystery why the wizards we have running things in our nation's capital Ottawa keep trying to Carbon Tax everything that still moves back into colder weather . . . . tax tax tax tax . . . .

    Battery ground saws

Any comments on temperature ranges, on the low end, you're using these batteries/ battery saws at. I've written earlier that even at about +5 degC I couldn't get either Husky or DeWalt batteries to charge outside in any reasonable time which was a new one on me. And what about use down in the...

    Stupid stitches-Cut resistant gloves?

Glad it's not worse. I had kinda the same thing happen this summer in a birch - made some cuts with my polesaw and then hooked it on a branch but with the saw a bit above me and to the side. When I knocked it off it went sideways and the blade just touched my arm a bit before I stopped it. It...

    Website Change Affect Browser

Hey try deleting history and cache if you don't do this often manually. If that doesn't work we've found Firefox works on some older macs we have (Monterey). But if it helps last update of Sequoia messed up the trackpad on an M1 Macbook Air I run. Apple has a bug list as long as your arm and...

4SRT X Rope Runner Classic made of Unobtainium?

Honey Brothers in the UK still seems to have them (2 left?) on their website. I'd like to see one made for the RRP as well - still find the RRP wears on me getting it to release sometimes. Had asked Arbsession about it and they replied they'd toyed with the idea of maybe a 3D printed one or...

DownRigger, Rigging Wrench (or Scarab, or....)??

Second that - recent purchase and must say it's well made and works great even to "catch" small stuff - you can even lock it off easily if you feel the need to have a sip of coffee while in the middle of some production . . . I like it . . . got mine thru Wespur. Way easier on the ropes than a...

    Good by osha?

So this leaves only State OSHA's and only in some states? Maybe the idea is to get each state to adopt whatever they need rather than have duplicate at the federal level. Might work if you have an overall framework they have to tow the line to. But I will say the the US Federal occ health regs...

Carrying cabling gear in the canopy

Great idea - maybe something like Richard Mumford's magnets he used to sell for throwline magic would be nifty for that 'cuz they already have an eye on one end and are really strong permanent magnets. Tree gear stuff is iterative . . . . .

Carrying cabling gear in the canopy

Just use a cable puller/ Havens Grip. A small set of fours does fine for most jobs. One thing though, it's sometimes a pain (especially on conifers) to get the cable started thru the limb. Sap again is your enemy esp with only about 1/16" clearance drilled hole to cable sometimes. I found that...

Carrying cabling gear in the canopy

I'll go up and drill one side, measure cable length, then cut ehs with angle grinder on the ground leaving foot or two extra length, install a rig guy on one end and go up and install cable on the drilled limb end pulling cable right thru, then install other end (use a come along and wire pull...

    EV and e-tool changes

I had the same thing about twenty years ago - pickup ran a stop, took the front end of my car off on a diagonal, scrambled my marbles good and the PU fled the scene! Fortunately for me an engineer (in eyes of the court a dependable witness) was driving the same road behind me, followed the PU...

Ever hear of Rigging 1.0 software?

If not Rigging 1.0, then something like it? I seem to recall maybe it was Taylor Hammel or Mark Bridge years ago talking about force vectors and rigging and some names of software for this. Maybe try contacting them directly? Alt maybe there is something in Engineering Toolbox? Cheers. Addenda...

    Throw line/ throw weight thread

I wonder how it would be compared to Teufelberger's Shaoline throwline. Have used that and at the temperatures I use it, it was pretty stiff, although a few times I got kinks/ knots in it that were a bear to get out.
