As I understand it drum chippers throw well straight forward and up to 45° to each side. I rented a Bandit 12XPC drum chipper to chip a mas of big pine limbs and tops. Most of it was going 45° forward over a fence to a neighbor who wanted the chips. When almost done I spun the chute around...
Matias the 250XP's would be disk chippers right?
NWPEZ what had you do lower feed wheel and bearings? That seems very early in it's life to have issues there.
TreeBuzz and its members are so great. I would have never thought of all those things to check. Some are slap my forehead simple but I would not have thought of them.
I'll bet the answer is in there and many are very simple to check or stop by your local auto parts and ask them to check...
Have not had a need to employ mine yet. I set it up specifically to go on the opposite end of my climb line rather than a stand alone system like my Captain Hook is set up. It has the weight to carry my Tacyon out pretty far but have only done some practice throws with it.
I haven't used mine enough to say anything about durability. It's a little block of shaped steel though and would be very surprised if it failed.
Does anyone have any further info with loadcell stats on the lifting power of drills powering the GRCS? I was going into a tougher job and bought...
That wouldn't be the case in my area of California. Cracks in T wall type foundation around the exterior. Not sure about condition of interior lines of foundation but it was lifting those enough to warp hardwood floors and crack a couple of walls.
Minimum initial foundation work price I...
I have heard the premise that copper nails hammered into a tree would kill it but have never done it or spoken to a person who has. I guess if copper just killed the cells of the roots it comes in contact with and doesn't travel systemically it could work well as foundation protection.
I just had a YouTube short put in my feed a few days ago that appeared to be an advertisement for a "sock" made of fine copper mesh to put over pipe as you install a French Drain in a tree root prone area. Interesting thought. I clicked on the poster of the video and watched one other he had...
Chippers are such an interesting piece of equipment. They can do huge volumes of work but a thing off here or there can add so much frustration and headache to your day and cut that production.
A friend had a brand new Morbark 12 inch chipper that would plug its chute. I mean right off the...
This is what a lower feed wheel with double the knives looks like. It makes all the difference in a Bandit not jamming with chips nearly as much especially on brush that fractures.
Ahh. Well, good to have someone with first hand experience.
I would assume fir, cypress, and pine branches from trees in my area would jam up. Oaks and the like all the more.
Not bog down the motor...as in too much material to eat. Bog down the work flow as in there is a heck of a lot of tree growth that will plug an 8 inch by 8 inch feed hole with too much friction. Back it out and cripple crotches, pull off some of the material feeding at one time etc.
Even in...
Just looked up the TW and Jensen and later mentioned Soscol. That Jensen has an 8 inch square to feed brush through. It would almost certainly bog down every day of work in my opinion. The Soscol may well be out for Mick point of single feed wheel - also only six inch.
