We run 8 1712 Carleton chipper all being less then 2 1/2 years old ,
Haven't had any major issues this would be it
1 hyd motor seals. 3 units
2 plug on disc cover I have been replacing with a different plug,(I've had 2 short out)
3 wiring - clearance lights on front both have shorted out because...
I will admit Vermeer parts was good , lol during demo machine broke down and they sent another,
When I demoed chippers I went through 3 in 2 days and they kept bringing them. Parts and service is only 1 part machine reliability is the most important thing to remember ,
All I run is bandit Carlton and Rayco ,Rayco was only stumper in my yard till this year but I tried all makes except morbark and now I have A new bandit 2650 and 2 new 2890 bandits ( still have 8 Rayco )
If you can find a used Rayco RG50. Best most versatile stumper you can own, will give you backyard access and the production you need to do stumping contracts , we have 4 and they work everyday and are very reliable
Why are you only checking out Vermeer? As far as I m concerned the Vermeer don't stand up as well as others, if your interested in a stumper check around
I think when it comes to dead eab infested trees dead=dangerous .
I think in the area were I live and work this is a very good work practice ,give them the respect they deserve
I know a few municipalities have a zero tolerance for climbing any ash,but these municipalities are also the ones that are further ahead in there eab programs and have been infested for quite some time
A few years ago in our area a guy did same thing , tried to lift a chunk of oak and as he did rope broke on sharp edge and cantapolted him in the air as he undid he's lanyard. Fatal mistake !!
Utility machines are built much heavier than forestry machines that's why they usually don't go as far...
