I read the whole thing, a few minutes of my life I will never truly get back. Your right, i'm sure its not dangerous, I don't know what im talking about. Do it your way, i'm sure it will go fine? All I was trying to do was clarify the real problem, what you were doing is not the best method...
Jgreene,
There is nothing wrong with asking for advice when you don't know something, especially in this industry. I have done so many times and value the feedback I have gotten from some of the best in the industry. The difference with your post is that you are trying to do something very...
Well....Seems like hind of a lot for how beat up it is? Also, isn't the F650 a little underpowered for a forestry bucket truck? Nothing wrong with older used truck if it structurally sound, especially the boom. I have an older Ford F800 (ex asplundh unit) with an altec boom that is great. I...
Hmmmm, Well, I have been using the GriGri 2 in my basal anchor for a while now. I believe it is even suggested in some supply catalog? Sherrill maybe? Anyway, the Grillion and the Gri Gri are two very different things. Yes, no?

Husky is much less of a beast to run for long periods of time. My 395 xp's are my best friend! Awesome with a 36' and will pull a 42' on conifers no problem! Great saw, highly recommended.

I have been using the 3.1 all summer. It is the best saddle I have ever worn! Very comfortable, super light, has a batten seat option etc. I give it the thumbs up!

I wanted to ask everyone's thoughts on general protocol when pruning previously topped trees. Obviously there are a million different situations that would necessitate different courses of action but i am looking for a general answer. If you have a tree that was improperly pruned via many...
Re: Men who don\'t wear gloves, step forward.
I always wear gloves when I climb, just the thinnest nitrile they make. But, on a side note, I used to be a Pro Downhill Mtn Bike racer a few years ago (seems like a lifetime) and I NEVER wore gloves. I could not get the "feel" of the handlebar...
Ok all,
I'm finally going to try and incorporate SRT into my work. Obviously I will rec. climb on it a bunch "slow and low" before bringing to the job site. That being said, I will list the gear I've got and hopefully you all can give some helpful hints from your own extensive experience to...

I use a 3# mini sledge to drive railroad spikes into the tree and climb them.

Re: What is you primary system?
DdRT rope on rope! Tried and true VT with a hitchclimber pulley = smooth as silk! Pantin for accession. Rockgrab for lanyard tending. SRT and a wrench on the very near horizon though!
