Handheld drill worked fine for me, no extra measures taken besides "ya that looks about level and square". Actually kohler says you gotta pull the crankshaft out. Ya right.
Call dave at top notch. My Thomas ate a pump spline. We switched it out for a boxer equivalent. I replaced the engine side spline too, ill post a pic on my other pc of how to get it out.
