Thanks I’m certainly going to try. Problem is I use plastic as my primary material. The Plastic that I use that provides the least friction also has the lowest ductability (flexibility). Whereas high ductability polymers impart more friction. I’m looking for the best way to combine the best...
The Design I’m currently working will act like a blow hammer and absorb energy on impact deadening the blow and minimizing ricochet. But unfortunately my printer decided to go on the fritz today. I’ve got a call into technical support waiting for an answer. Hopefully I’ll get back up to...
What i would certainly like to achieve is the same level of quality and loyalty you guys have to these throw weights in my design. Feel free to tell me what you like and/or want in a throw weight. I just like the challenge of trying to design and make something good but at a lesser cost.
The 3-D printed Weights I’m making use a strong paracord to tie too. Works well as far as I’m concerned. Would you guys still prefer the typical D ring?
Nice you DIY I’ve got three different sizes that I bought From Lee Valley tools years ago. They’re are hard black plastic (seems like polyethylene ) with steel shot in it. They are great for what they’re intended like putting back together A repaired rocking chair, etc. Unfortunately they can...
I should also say the main body remains acetone vapour smoothed ABS which is very slick and imparts low friction. The base of the weights polymer though is a higher friction plastic called TPU. It feels and responds like rubber. The designs shape is similar to my other egg and carrot based designs.
One of my designs works on this principle. Less steel shot and a hard but flexible plastic base. Another words greater ductability. The loose shot deadens the bounce on impact with a hard surface.
The reason I ask is because I’m trying to design a better throw weight and wondering what people find most advantageous in the designs that they like. I have a few on the drawing board that I’m working on but input is always helpful
Let me put it another way. What would you like to see in a throw weight. What’s your shopping list for the best product, if you could design yourself? Cheers
