The choppiness does get better after you sharpen it a time it 2. Not sure why, but every stock echo chains I've ever had was that way. Never had an issue with Oregon, Stihl, Carlton, etc.
That makes sense and not at all what I was envisioning by "below"
I do that too, but mainly to dissipate the energy from a top swing, so it can't travel just the stem if the tree and hit a house or something similar.
Did you mean to say (this really points to leaving a few limbs "below" you). Or did you mean above?
I see the benefits of the energy dampening of the branches but I only see headache and hassle of brush getting hung up if you leave them below your rigging point
've foudnthat the transporter and vault both solved the issues of rotating and moving around on the webbing quite effectively with the (for lack of a better description) bolt on plates they come with. Been using them for years and as long as you have a carabiner/saw leash ring it is super easy...
Any idea if it's the same kit as the 2511 for the bar chain sprocket? I have both, but never think to try swapping them when they're both in the same place.
Also stock echo chains suck. Never heard a chain chatter so much. Touch it with a file and it's so much better
While I don't have a broken jetstep... yet (the webbing is starting to come apart like). If it fails, I'll try and remember you're looking. Also would definitely love to see what you come up with.
Also in line with what jonny mentioned, some of the non self tailers can be upgraded too.
If it's your first time (or even if you're still relatively new to foot ascneders say under 50 climbs or so) a lot of that kicking out is just stride and technique and getting used to the ascender. If it's still returnable, definitely swap it; if not then I'd say a few more practice climbs to...
Redirects in MRS are dynamic (ie the rope has to move between the primary anchor and the redirect) where SRS can be either static or dynamic at the redirect allowing for different load paths and load sharing between anchors (compression down the stem, vs bending, vs shared bending).
Natural...
If you're looking for terminology to define anchorage types... I'd propose these general classificiations
Canopy- An anchorage either SRS or MRS that supports the climber on an isolated branch union/crotch/spar
Basal- An anchorage for SRS that is attached at the ground level and uses a natural...
A weighted bag is less likely to get stolen off the boom when someone gets both their throwballs stuck in a tree and needs a third. If it never comes off the boom, it can never be forgotten to be reattached ;).
I'll take a stab at the doubled over but not moving rope too, though it's honestly not something I'm terribly familiar with.
Has spefically designed for it gear that is unsuitable for use in a srs/mrs system. Petzl shunt and dual cam hand ascenders come to mind; they specifically state in the...
Honestly I think that's more a limitation of the harness choice than a limit of SRS vs MRS. A ventral attachment on a harness (think rock climbing style with the loop at the waist) kee[s the attachment to the climbing system very fixed and the only slop introduced to the system from a sitback...
Yes, the rope moves vs does not move is the general concept. In my head it makes more sense to look at it from a progress capture device view point where MRS the rope moves with through (the termication end) and the rope moves through device AND is attached to the device, where SRS the rope only...
In SRS you and the device move on the rope, whereas in MRS you and the device move with the rope.
SRS is much much more agreeable to multiple redirects, and not building of extra friction on the rope without extra gear (think twin shiv pulleys and slings, vs natural crotches)
SRS is easier to...
I swear I've seen them before, but my goole fu is failing me today. I sweat it was a little mini throwline mug storage bag, but wieghted on the bottom so it can fall through a trees canopy. I'm looking for something that will store ~100 feet of throwling/2-4mm corgage with the intent that if the...
