Replace Sling on Big Shot Launcher

New installation shoots straight. Much harder to pull back, kinda hurts my fingers a little to hold and release. Much stronger now, and no need to pull back nearly as far as with the old stuff. If stretched 2/3rds down the pole the new tubing can sling a 12oz throwbag 65-70 ft easy

    Today....

Today... I worked amidst colossal blossoms of azalea, under clear 80° skies, pruning pines and cedars while enjoying their shade. Got nailed a few times elevating prickly holly, and dragged lots of brush. A good day.

Question about weed/vine suppression w/less or no chemicals, SE Penna

Holy Hard Work Batman, nice job. As for the Fire Bush... for sure, PA will 'come after you' if you have the gall to plant such an invasive. I had one on my old property, grew to a 15ft dia. New Year's Eve ball. I cut it back to knee high stumps. It really didn't care. Sprouted right back...

    Gear inspection/maintenance yields... some unexpected-ness

Thanks for your thoughts and observations. No, they are not reverse thread. I've taken them apart before. One of my best friends is a top mechanic and he says the same thing about alum - it reacts with other metals. I was very slow and careful, taking these off. I didn't use any power...

Replace Sling on Big Shot Launcher

Follow-up: Changed my sling rubber today. All of your advice was spot on. I measured the new rubbers before I started; they were pretty even. No need to cut any off. Getting the old tubing off was, MUCH to my surprise, by far the hardest part. Alcohol and water mixture helped the new tubes...

    Gear inspection/maintenance yields... some unexpected-ness

Yes I know the thread title is gibberish-ness. I was cleaning and inspecting some of my CMI micro-pulleys. I use these not only for fairlead on lanyards and mechanical advantage rigging configurations, but I climb on them in my rec trees ALL THE TIME. The ones in the TIP's in my recreational...

Question about weed/vine suppression w/less or no chemicals, SE Penna

"How bad is the soil?" I don't know. The client explained she won't be available to give me the tour for a few weeks. I really appreciate you experienced professionals taking the time to weigh in on this. Aside from whatever clearing I can do (of course I'd like to help her out) I will...

    Lawn Advertising signs

Vistaprint is not competetive once you go two-sided (D/S). I deal with SpeedPro, a franchise. They're all over the country. I screen-grabbed my Vistaprint design from the VP site cause I like the background, and just gave that image (attached, phone# removed) to SpeedPro. They came out nice...

Question about weed/vine suppression w/less or no chemicals, SE Penna

I just got a call from a local woman who lives adjacent to a township-owned 13 acre lot. She wants some clearing done that the machines didn't get to, mainly around the stream/creek area. Mostly vines and such. But her bigger concern is, once the twp cleared away all the dead trees, it's...

Replace Sling on Big Shot Launcher

You write very well; you'd B a good technical writer. Ahhhhh-mazing. (Moss is the best ain't he?!??) I'm just kind of surprised that U use this much craft for a Big Shot launch. Compared to my avg. cradle throw max height, I view my BigShot as a GD miracle. Just plain Jane, 8ft 1-piece...

replacement rubbers for the big shot

My BS is about 8 years old and I noticed the tubes were getting pretty sketchy last summer 2020. They have what I would refer to as micro-tears, and they're still working perfectly. But as soon as I get a break in my work sched I'll swap it out. Hopefully that'll happen before I get a break...

Replace Sling on Big Shot Launcher

Fantastic thread, thank you all. Answered all my questions. (Well, I haven't done it yet, but I think that's all the questions I will have };-) Great tips!! I guess Hosocat has a method by now since your post is a few months old, but IMO you should always run the throwline over, and in...

Cutting that top 15ft vertical limb... burned 2 of my 9's, more than a decade apart

Hey MOSS!!!!!! Awesome to hear from you!! We met a long ago at a Treeman Peter & Patty event. Yes, I was going very easy in both scenarios to NOT cut thru the hinge. And I dont think there was wind in either case. I appreciate your and Phil's comment. I probably could have done without...

Cutting that top 15ft vertical limb... burned 2 of my 9's, more than a decade apart

Hey look at you GO!!! You typed a useless comment!!! All by yourself!! Now, your childlike sentences are shining brightly on the internet. It's MAGICAL, isn't it, the SOUND of your OWN VOICE!?!!? And you even got a 'like'! YAY! I'm very impressed. Thanks for ANOTHER one of these...

    New DMM 'Director' Carabiners

I'm using a CMI double tie-in micro. I think it works great. It allows the rope bridge to spool thru the pulley freely but I don't have issues w/that. Been using this setup with my rope bridge for over a year, since I got the harness.
