    Tree With Power Line (Picture)

The utility training is a bit of an odd thing. I own a line clearance company here in aus. Even with all of the yearly training we are required to complete, not much of it actually focuses on how to work safely within close proximity to the wires whilst adhering to our reduced clearances. A big...

falling challenge big tulip through deck

How far is the stem actually from the rail?? You said a few feet but the photos it appears a couple inches?? The top is weighted away from the house, any half competent climber could spur up, blow the top out down the hill, block the barrel down thrown them over the rail and be done in a couple...

falling challenge big tulip through deck

Never worked with a tulip tree before, but there are some species of eucalyptus here that you can get to jump quite a way off the stump making what Daniel shows in the photo a remote possibility. Would I try it in that scenario, not a chance, to jump a shitty old wire farm fence, probably.

    Descending a spar ddrt

@southsoundtree, we must maintain a way of reaching the ground at all times, every time we spit up a tree we must take a lifeline that is long enough for us to reach the ground without re setting. I wouldn’t descend on a pull rope or rigging rope unless there was no other option, our rules...

    Descending a spar ddrt

    Descending a spar ddrt

This is pretty much the route we are going, the main thing complicating this situation is that I was unable to get spliced life lines longer than 200ft prior to starting the job, which was the reason for discussing different types of anchor points on a spar to descend from

    Descending a spar ddrt

Wouldn’t say it was making a big, more so discussing different ways of achieving a task safely and efficiently whilst following strict guidelines set out by the utilities. Some people in this forum enjoy sharing ideas and thoughts about different techniques without turning it into a dick...

    Descending a spar ddrt

Appreciate all the responses and suggestions guys. I own the company so the splicing if ropes is no worries, so long as I’m comfortable doing them. Unable to get lifelines longer than 200ft, reason being is we are required by the utility to use spliced termination and none of the suppliers...

    Descending a spar ddrt

The issue with using commercially available friction savers is that they may not be available in the length need to be able to choke the stems, in aus our climbing shops don’t stock a lot. Don’t have to descend ddrt, however that is what my guys are used to, srt is also a little bit of a grey...

    Descending a spar ddrt

Gday folks. Got a job my crew is starting next week, 70 mountain ash removals 45m+ in height. Those not familiar with this species of tree, commonly have a gun barrel straight trunk limb free for the first 100ft or so. This is a utility job so we will be climbing them and piecing out the...
