$800 to spend - tell me what to buy!

It’s featured as a farm and ranch saw. You think it would hold up?

$800 to spend - tell me what to buy!

So I do tree work on the side now since I stopped climbing full time and got into working for the power company. I have an Echo 355 and love it. Well worth the money and almost the same quality as a 201 for half the money. Problem is I don’t have a ground saw. Nothing else but my climbing...

    Hurricane work Assistence.

If insurance is paying then what's the big deal? Also let's not forget basic supply and demand: obviously tree companies will be in demand after Irma is done. As demand goes up so does price for work. That's simple. I'm with Royce here though - storm work isn't regular tree work at all. I...

    Re-soling boots??

My boots lasted over 6 months of heavy use. Soles never peeled just got worn down. Something just wasn't right about the way they fixed them.

    Re-soling boots??

Unfortunate update to follow: About 3 weeks after receiving my boots back from NuShoe the soles began splitting. I only wear my Evos when pruning so it hadn't been but maybe 10-12 times? Called the company and explain the problem. They paid for me to ship them back to get redone. I was told the...

    Getting old(er)

Static stretching while your muscles are cold leads to more injuries. Wait til the muscles are already warm to stretch ie after the climb or work day. Dynamic stretching (before work or climb) is best for cold muscles. *certified Crossfit Instructor

    Quickie - favorite uses

Kevin Bingham had mentioned in his SRT webinar that there is a proper way to set up the quickie in a cinching configuration i.e. AB and quickie for working the spar. Can anyone provide a pic showing the proper orientation of the quickie? Just want to make sure I'm using it right. Only had one...

Mind showing a pic of this set up?

    DdRT Injuries

I hear ya man. My only complaint for this is what Tim set up. Sometime, if the tree is large enough, it is more efficient to climb up and set redirects for those long limb walks. Other times though it seems to be inefficient. It's either climb up 30+ feet for a redi for one long limb walk or...

    DdRT Injuries

Just doesn't have the same feel as without gloves. And after one or two uses the gloves are loose and ineffective. That's what I've found. I'll keep searching though and testing this.

    DdRT Injuries

I love SRT and will only climb DRT on some removals and/or to keep myself familiar with it. My only complaint about SRT is long limb walk, particularly the return trip. I know, some folks set up MAs to gain a 2:1 or 3:1 for the way back....but is that really the most common? I find myself far...

    Live oak crane removal.

Explain to me this shelf cut. Looks super smooth. Is it just an angle under cut and a top cut? Useful in all scenarios and positions or only certain ones?? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Finishing a back cut with a hand saw?

That's the only time I ever finish a cut with a handsaw. Last thing I want is my saw to wrap around me and the tree if the groundie doesn't let it run. I've also used a pole saw in sketchy situations or storm damage just to make sure I'm out of the way in case things go south. But like...

    Re-soling boots??

Yes, NuShoe was the same. If I had a question or wanted to check the status of my order I simply went online and checked. I was without my boots for about 6 weeks start to finish. Good thing I liked was that they paid for shipping both ways. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Re-soling boots??

Big thanks to "CutHigh" for the great recommendation. NuShoe did a great job and kept the turn around time down. Photos speak for themselves. Very pleased and excited that my pruning boots can continue in the fight. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
