    Recommendation of lanyard snaps

Anthony I agree with many of the other comments concerning the use of a biner over a snap. There just much more versatile. I use a snap, but now it's a biner for me now and has been for years. My recommendation for a biner would be to purchase one that is a large D type. I also prefer screw type...

    Retrievable Friction Saver Help!?

So if your looking for a friction saver, ring type and leather cambium savers are available. The Weaver Leather Cambium Saver can be pretty easy to install and retrieve. Retrieval is as easy as it gets, just tie a figure eight knot just above the eye splice and it will pull the cambium saver...

    Little tricks

Throw Ball In Thick Areas of Foliage I use to Girth Hitch my ball but after getting it stuck many times from being to aggressive in thick areas of the tree, I now tie my throw line to it with a slip knot. The reason I tie it this way is because taking the ball off is like.........ohhhh sooooo...

Live Oak Bark Can Be Challenging To Climb

Yep!!!!!!!! I just had to climb another Live Oak yesterday. Many of the branches were asending and swooping downward on the same branch. It was a wild looking tree, kinda like something you would find out in the woods. It was very challenging and it took me a lot longer to do the job than what I...

    Homemade APTA

Thought about making one out of galvanize piping but, my Big Shot has been just right for me so far. Joe Bisping has a video on the old You Tube concerning the DIY throw ball cannon.

Live Oak Bark Can Be Challenging To Climb

The Captains Hook is a awesome part of kit to have! It is great for horizontal traverses and work positioning. it will also help facilitate in getting you at the tips of the branches that you were pruning. Depending on what I’m trying to accomplish, I’ll set up the system a little different...

Live Oak Bark Can Be Challenging To Climb

I haven't climbed a Live Oak with old growth bark on it for a quite some time. Many branches were mossed up and the bark breaks off under my feet and hand holds real easy like when trying to go out on the branches. "Bark rash forearms for me today". lol All I can say is, I was really on my A...

Pros and cons of long, stock, or shorter length harness bridges

That has been working well for me. Short when asending SRT long when using 3 to 1 on long horizontal limb walks. However, I still am thinking about how I would like to be able to go out on the branch with a short bridge and lengthen it while weighted for the return back.

Addressing hitch binding with the Rope Wrench on descent

Thank you colb! Yes that's correct. It is a tight hitch however, I took the time to stretch it out end to end and measure it again today. From eye to eye it is 27"long. I make my own hitches and they vary as much as 1". I use a fisherman's knot at the terminations ends of the hitch. They are...

Addressing hitch binding with the Rope Wrench on descent

Yes I agree. I have found for me that the Michocan works the best. I use it with a Hitch Climber set up, with 11mm Yale Blaze Rope. I use New England 8mm Prusik cord. Five wraps on a 26" cord, keeps it close and set back is at a minimum.
