    Getting commercial work.

Almost everyone in Tulsa is switching to a grapple, and our dump takes brush for a low price. I may buy a grapple in the future, but most new are in the 300k range. Only down fall to the grapple is the hazard, operation/maintenance costs and Class A CDL (which I have). 14 years in, and have...

    Getting commercial work.

Well in the last several months, bigger and bigger commercial jobs have been coming in. Just landed a 12k fence line clearing, to prep for an electric new one. One of the bigger landscape companies in my areas has wanted to partner in using us for their tree needs. Running and acquiring jobs...

When Bartlett opens an office in your town....

SAT just bought out Tulsa’s biggest and most expensive tree service. They are even more expensive now, which is good for the market. They have offered me a job twice or possibly a buy out/no compete, same with RL&T. (My company is the only one in the city of Tulsa with an BCMA on staff, and they...

    How's the work flow?

Tulsa got hit with 110 mile an hour winds, so far the last two weeks it’s been a madhouse. I know one local company that did over $1 million the first week after the storm. .

    Avant Thread!

I demoed the Giant 254 Tele HD and Avant 500 series. A lot more pulling and pushing power with the Giant as the drive motors are a larger cc displacement, has universal attachment plate and the ability to oscillate 8°, which allows all four tires to be firmly planted on the ground with full...

How hard do you work? (And for how long?)

I have an incredible wife, and 4 kiddos ages 3 to 7. It’s hard for me to split my energy into different categories, because I just want to focus on one and master it, but that’s not possible in life. My kiddos will be out of the house here in 13 years, and my wife will always be by my side. I...

    Perkins T3, 1104D, 142HP

I am looking at a 2014 Bandit 1590XP with a Perkins T3, 1104D, 142HP. It has 980 hours on the clock, and original paint/mint condition, so I am assuming hours are correct. Anyone have good or bad info on this Perkapillar engine? Several I have talked to said they’re very prone to injection...

    Emergency storm work billing.

Anyone else watching and keeping up with Clarity Market? Eye-opener for me as far as how insurance and coverages go. It also made me a step back and figure out what I think everything I own is worth an hour. I’ve never thought about giving equipment and personnel individual hourly rates in...

The clutch also keeps you from breaking a 6 foot bit off inside the tree!

    Bracing Equipment?

I do not use the quick attach extension because when you pull the bit out, it can disconnect. So pretty much pointless for this application and it’s is wider than 3/4 of an inch. I now only use the extensions that require three Allen head screws. I do have a quick attach to Chuck adapter for it...

Sales, bidding, estimating: what's your style?

Unfortunately, I’ve been debating getting a spider lift just because everyone in town that’s has one, tells the homeowners that climbing trees is for hack jobs and it’s not safe. climbing is getting a bad rap really quick around Tulsa. Customers now get really concerned if I tell them, we climb...

Sales, bidding, estimating: what's your style?

This is something I wanted to work on this year. Typically I meet with the client, keep it simple, probably way too humble, and sometimes a little too science based because that’s how my mind works. I had a few customers tell me my reviews and credentials were impeccable, however, I seemed like...
