My thoughts are that its there to help keep the rope nice and round under load, so that its not a critical to have it through the spliced eye. But I want to check.
How do you all treat the Orange tracer core inside the hollow braided core? Like the purple tracer strand in tachyon? Which most splicers I know cut out...
yup, and yes i think you can watch them break test...if I recall, they do need two eyes or loops (one each end) in order to test...and as far as I know, there is no certification badge for sewing/splicing/stitching/gluing anything. Just batch testing.

Very cool video. Neat device. Less friction at the TIP, more on your elbow. E2E cord isn't that expensive. Elbows are. Depends on the tree and the situation what is best. FWIW, I would not tie into that branch in that manner.
