    I use it for rappelling all the time. Give it a try. I don't claim to be the first person to ever tie this knot but I came up with it a few years back for just this purpose (rappelling with extra friction and no twist) I started to call it the "canadian italian hitch" as a joke. Dave

    I think Spidey or Tom has a picture of my Canadian Italian Hitch. When tied correctly it twists the rope one way for half the knot, then it twists it back. It also has a lot of friction so you don't have to white knuckle the rope on the way down. Dave
