Here is a description of my srt system. It has been evolving for 14 years now and I think it is a nice balance of simple, light on gear, quick to get on and off, and efficient in climbing.
For a picture I will start with this one, which is similar to a system shown in many books and...
see spydey's website for a speedline force calculator. It is not something you would take on site but play with some numbers until you go "WOW, I did not know those kind of forces were involved" If you are working a dead / hollow tree that you did not want to stand under, it is probably not a...
Welcome Brion, Great to have you here!! I met you and your wife a few years back at a trade show. I really enjoyed talking knots and ropes with you. I can't wait to read more of your posts.

Re: just wondering...
maybe we need a FAQ for the board so Glen does not have to explain this for the 1000th time.
I'm not bagging on you John, It's just that this comes up a lot.

when I do a search for posts in the last 24 hrs, quite often it gives me the message "this search can't be done, try again in a few minutes" or something to that effect. It never did it before but now it happens about 30% of the time.
Dave
Glen spent an hour trying to start a meaningfull discussion with you on a topic you started and you won't even take the time to read it?!?!
Weak. You have lost my interest and I will not click on one of your posts again.
Tom, Is there a way for us (personally, I don't mean TB) to block out a...

And I would have to say that my idea of him is likely quite different than yours, so don't immediately jump to the conclusion that we'd be buddies at church camp.

Thanks Glen, that made my week

My issue was with their customer service. I used quick books but when I bought a new computer and tried to transfer it over, it told me I had to call and register to get a new serial number in order for it to work longer than 30 days. I immediatley called the number and went through about 5...
what on earth are you wearing on your harness that you need to use the hyper bar to add friction?
When I rappel with a rack with 5 bars and the rope tailing out the bottom, I can rappel or stop just by moving the bottom bar with my two pinky fingers. I think you would need three people on...
One thing that helps is to give people a booklet of knots and some rope. Get them to practice and maybe do one or two short evening sessions before going up in the air. Break up the course into sections.
Session 1- ropes are already set up goal of the class is to learn to put on a harness...
I have a pic but it is film that I will have to develop. The picture a while back I posted of the steel shaft had to be lifted with nylon to not scratch the surface and it weighed aprox 11,000 lbs. (it was 27 ft long)
Dave
(my bad)
We use nylon slings all the time for picks a LOT bigger than any tree lift. No problems and the slings are abused to the point that I used to be scared, IE dripping with oil, small holes from welding slag etc. Never had problems.
Dave
Come on now, If we removed every tree with a defect there would be none left. What happens when you plant the new tree and 4 years later it has a problem? Are you going to keep killing them until the perfect one emerges?
