I use Gore Tex. but I live in the pacific northwet. waxes and seals and goops only last a little while around here. If I had to choose a couple products, there is Sno Seal, a silicone based aerosol or... mink oil, which must be rubbed in and warmed (hair dryer) to get good effect.

re cutter / chain speed of a chainsaw. No I dont know what the chain is speeding along at but our WCB rules state that we must wear approved chainsaw protection rated to 3900 fps. some other areas are 3400 fps (feet per second) perhaps thats a rough idea of where some of the saws are running?
Kathy, I hear you! I always take the first few snow and ice days and do not drive. a little bump in to anything with the truck or the wifes car and its $thousands$ to fix! We arent that far apart, our terrain is pretty much the same thing, hills, tight curves, not conducive to icy or snowy...
I have had a few calls from some of my customers saying they have had limb failures, I let them know as soon as the snow and ice clears up, I will come do what I can to clean up the wounds and breaks. Until then, I sit in my office and enjoy a few stress free days surfing the net and catching up...
