    Disinfecting Saws...

The torch sounds fun, but you still have to get the crap out from between the teeth first. Torching would take longer than spraying with rubbing alcohol and would be MORE fuss.

    Proper Root Removal

Of course we'd need to see more, but I think that's a root that I would cut...probably for free or a mere $50, then just leave everything else alone.

    Jobber Software

I hate that part. I want to be able to select the four items I want and click "create job with selected items" Or this one irks me: Say I make a quote with 20 items. Client emails back "can you revise it with the first 4 items, the 7th one and 10, 14, and 19? We'll probably deal with the...

Seriously on stratum? What number are you calling? They aren't the FASTEST at getting things done, but they've been good for us for several years now. Text me your number. I bet I can have them call you tomorrow! (my cell is in my sig)

When should I hire another employee??

Ok- you win. I'm not arguing with that. 3 years ago it was me and one other guy. Running the biz was WAY more fun and relaxing. I often dream about the good ol days! (though at that time we didn't have a chipper or a truck or more than 1 chainsaw, or clients or consistent cash flow, etc)...

    Disinfecting Saws...

A dip or a wipe alone ain't gonna do much. If we're thinking there's bacteria jammed in the gunk between the Silky teeth, are we soaking long enough to ensure the alcohol is penetrating deep enough to kill the bacteria? Just get rid of the evidence :)

    Disinfecting Saws...

We start EVERY job by sterilizing all pruning tools. Pole saws, pole pruners, hand pruners, hand saws, any loppers or whatever that may get used...etc. We use razors and stiff wire brushes to scrape sap and stuck sawdust, then do a final wipe down with 91% rubbing alcohol. There are a lot of...

    Liability in Tree Support Systems

The general rules are that there are not general rules about cabling! We'll put some wording in our quotes that say something like, "cabling this tree is no guarantee that failure will not happen..." or something like that...but I wonder if that'll actually help me if something bad were to...

When should I hire another employee??

Royce you need to get off the job site at 10, not 2. Two pm is the end of the day. Get a new guy so you can leave them to work. You're stifling your business the longer you stay on the jobsite. I feel like a slacker every day when I walk away and leave the crew behind- but my job is to RUN...
