    Any tricks or suggestions...

    My suggestion would be to tighten the gas and oil tank caps on your saw :) If you haven't already washed and dried the clothes then your chances are still pretty good. Try working in a bit of GOJO. If you've already washed/dried the clothes then get used to the stains.

    Magnum = Dumbass!

    The direct link to the wimpy Euro model is http://uk.catalog.stihl.com/katalog/datenblatt/11282099990/0/default.htm Note that their version can only run a 25" bar maximum while ours can pull a 32"! Sounds magnum-like to me, hahaha!

    Haven't tried using an image off the WWW but sending one from my computer worked perfectly for me as of a couple minutes ago. [ QUOTE ] How do I make the picture small enough to fit. I made it the right pixel size but it still wouldn't accept it [/ QUOTE ] Post the image here in this thread as...

    Perils among the palms

    [ QUOTE ] I like this story so much I'll have to link to it from my website [/ QUOTE ] Try linking to the print version (which, like the article itself, likely won't be a viable link for very long), attached here as a dump from a text-mode browser, made into PDF (if Mark's re-enabled them yet).

    block maintenance

    If there is squeaking there will be metal smearing as well. Look for it and where found, take some Scotch-Brite to the surfaces to clean them up before lubricating them. If it's the center of the oil-impregnated bushing clean it and soak it in some lightweight oil for a while. The oil in such...

    Attached is page 15 from Samson's 2004 catalog PDF. See the "Whoopie Sling" section on the left; the "Rated Capacities" chart. (I had to upload it zipped; Mark, would you please re-enable the .pdf uploads?) "Choker" degradation (20%) has got to be the same as would be for "girth hitch". That...

    Using high octane fuel in chainsaws

    Here is an excerpt from the http://en.wikipedia.org/ entry on "Octane rating": [ QUOTE ] Higher octane ratings correlate to higher activation energies. Activation energy is the amount of energy necessary to start a chemical reaction. Since higher octane fuels have higher activation energies...

    woman killed by tree..............

    [ QUOTE ] That is sad. Obviously something went wrong with the felling itself [/ QUOTE ] Might be that the thud of the stem hitting the ground was largely instrumental in the structural failure. Looking at the construction methods used I'd guess the place to be approaching 100 years old. [...

    cypress tree removal

    Next time you see a 5 gallon bucket, ask yourself how many cubic feet you could stuff in it. Then realize that a cubic foot contains 7.5 gallons, so it would only be 2/3 of one in that bucket! Maybe 28% moisture content (8.25 quarts / 7.5 gallons possible) isn't too much at all.

    Lanyards

    I have my lanyard on my climbing saddle attached via a very closely-tied Knut. It is a little inconvenient at times having it permanently attached but for the most part it's unobtrusive and completely bullet-proof (haven't gotten any sap on it yet, Kathy :) I haven't had the opportunity to do...
