First day on the rope runner

Since this seems to be THE RR thread I will ask my question here. Been looking at different rope with the RR, I've only used Cherry Bomb and just recently Tachyon. From my beginner perspective I found CB to hold it's shape well, very static, after using it for a couple of months gets kind of...

Climb a tree to sharpen your memory, study says...

That's a great article, I wish would have known about this years ago so I could have started doing whatever the article was about, I think it had something to do with eating more cheese.

    Rope Runner Problems

Just from looking at the pictures it appears they have gone back to the pinned body stop. The black one was machined from the body, the gold was pinned.

NOW you tell me how to tame my line, I tried verbal insults to no avail.

    TreeStuff Treasure Hunts!

I'll be there. Just navigating Pittsburgh should be enough of a challenge. Don't be surprised if you ask for directions to a place you can see from where you're standing and they say "You can't get there from here, unless you want to travel over three bridges and through a tunnel".

    Teufelberger ropbucket and kitbag

I really like mine a lot. Holds my 150' rope, harness. helmet and tarp on the inside and everything else on the outside.

I'm down here in Washington. We should start a club and call it, Pittsburgh Steeler Newb Tree Climbing Association (the Steeler part is for cred)

ARLO thank you for the help, I wasn't sure before but now I am, it sucks to be me to have only one that's less than fantastic.

    Any Pittsburgh climbers ?

Yeah I'm south of Pittsburgh, but I'm a beginner myself so your questions would be limited to beer and women (which I know nothing about after all these years but I'll tell you anyway). These guys on here I have to say are TOP notch. P.S. I don't know anything about beer either.

    Who's a self taught climber?

Thanks again Tim, since you mentioned this I've done a little reading about this, is what they call DRT? LOL, now that's funny, that might be why I've had to watch them so many times. Oh and thank you for taking the time making those videos, they have been a tremendous help, one of the...

    Who's a self taught climber?

Good advice, thank you, along with this, in order to get accustomed to the device, and the extent in which it operates I tested how hard I would fall if I pushed down hard on the bird, well, I found out. :sorprendido3: I learned to push up on the bird from watching Mr. Mumford's videos. It's...

    Who's a self taught climber?

Thanks Tim, not wordy at all, any and all help is greatly appreciated. That's a great website, already spent a lot of time looking at it. I posted in that thread to see if anyone can give some insight.

    Rope Runner Problems

Some times when ascending, the Rope Runner will not engage for me and just flop back down, I have to manually push up on the bird to get it to catch. I don't know if this is the nature of the RR or not. Called TreeStuff to discuss my issue to find out if it's me or possibly the device, the...

    Who's a self taught climber?

Thanks again Tim! I really do appreciate you taking the time to help a beginner/nobody over the internet. The Rope Runner is tricky, and definitely an advanced tool. I can deal with being careful with pushing down on the bird and controlling my decent, (I'm getting pretty good at it). But the...

    Who's a self taught climber?

Thanks Tim, good advice. Confidence seems to be the key, as i go higher I become more and more acutely aware of all those parts in the chain, some of them seem so small lol. I have to admit, it's harder than I thought it would be, which is good because I like a challenge. Here is my gear bag...

    Who's a self taught climber?

In the process of being self taught (started two weeks ago), read some books, been watching a lot of videos, one of the hardest parts has been trying to learn all the acronyms and terminology. Practice my knots everyday. Been taking it "low and slow" and having a blast, although I did go up to...
