    Practice, Game, and Improvise...

Hello Again. I was thinking about my above post...and how fractured it was in terms of a point or narrative. This is what I wanted to say...and why I was saying it. I had a great weekend of climbing. Borrowing from a book, A Twist of the Wrist, I think about attention like a dollar bill. The...

A question about maneuvering into a tree...

Climbingmonkey24, Thank you for your thoughts. The responses to my inquiry have been great - ranging from technique to recognition that this happens, and we simply adapt and innovate. Yesterday I returned to the tree that spawned the question. I setup as before, but this time moved past “the...

I believe a road trip to New Orleans is in my future...!

With a raked and swept forest floor, too! Very nice Winchman. I envy your situation.

Do you return to the same tree(s) repeatedly, or are you nomadic, and always moving to the new one?

Thank you, Moss. As I’m watching this, I’m thinking about my enjoyment of watching Texas Hold ‘em, Curling, and Tree Climbing. I’m going to do a YouTube search for paint drying. Apparently, there’s a pattern. What’s wrong with me!?!?!? Have a god safe day.

I believe a road trip to New Orleans is in my future...!

Hello All, My wife arrived in New Orleans this morning. She wrote me a note, "Seeing oak trees with your eyes today." Oh my...I feel a road trip coming on! Any folks enjoyed climbing these beauties?

Job security for arborists is a thing of the past...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I had lunch with a friend who has 100 acres of land. We were talking about tree climbing. He said he has some goats that like the trees. Uh oh! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cBBZh8_2AMaNvjKvkvU2370Uhn2Y9hOC/view?usp=sharing

    Morning Gratitude…

Hello All, I’ve said it before, but I believe it can’t be said enough…this forum and each of you are fantastic. Having access to such a wealth of knowledge, that is shared so generously, with no judgment (other than healthy debate) is rare. It’s a culture thing, and you have created it here...

    CTI QUICK STEP-S...

Evo, Thank you for that. It all makes sense. Mine was popping off with 75 feet of rope below my as I climbed SRT. There was plenty of tension on the line. I'm sure it was me. Just couldn't figure out the "right motion". Natural wasn't working...nor did heel down or up.

A question about maneuvering into a tree...

Everyone…thank you for this superb input. As this particular tree is now my favorite - albeit noisy - I will return and deploy the techniques you have suggested. This is going to be fun! With gratitude,

    CTI QUICK STEP-S...

I tried pointing every which way. I simply couldn't keep the rope in the device. The only time it would stay in was when I climbed without a knee ascender - just arms and one leg. It appeared that any slack created with the rope walking allow for the rope to kick out. And...sometimes quite...

    CTI QUICK STEP-S...

Good morning. This weekend I had the chance to try out a new foot ascender. I purchased the CTI Quick Step-S This device didn't work well for me, as I kept detaching (stepping out) from the rope. My climbing buddies told me I purchased the wrong one. I needed to have the Quick Step Food...

A question about maneuvering into a tree...

Hello All, I had a most fantastic tree climbing weekend. I had the opportunity to climb some 100' Redwoods. I also scouted and climbed a most fantastic California Oak. It is tall, stout, and broad...with several cool limb walking opportunities on different parts of the tree, as well as lots of...

Do you return to the same tree(s) repeatedly, or are you nomadic, and always moving to the new one?

Aerial Traveler, (I apologize that this isn't the most fluid and cogent piece of writing. I think I need an afternoon coffee.) Thank you for your thoughts. I like the "wild tree" notion. I haven't done so yet, but I have thought about bringing my saw to improve the trees while I'm climbing...

Do you return to the same tree(s) repeatedly, or are you nomadic, and always moving to the new one?

Hello All, I find myself continuously looking around for the next tree to climb. I was wondering whether most of you do the same...or do you tend to return to the same trees repeatedly? With that as a backdrop, yesterday I scouted a tree that I had been looking at from the roadway on many...
