Hi. So I am a 32 inch waist and 510. Based on the monkey beaver website, it says that a medium would be appropriate. Would you concur? Also, thank you for the clarification on the sizing as it relates to the upper D rings. That is very helpful, I did not know that.
Plenty on topic! Like all of us, I imagine, I’m scouring the World Wide Web looking for that unicorn of coast, quality, versatility, etc.
I’m sup attracted to the MonkeyBeaver. I’d love to exchange my Sequoia for that…just to try something different. Like ski swaps, there should be climbing...
Well, I made the purchase last night online, and the company called me today to say that the saddle was no longer available. The only one that they said was available was the more expensive version. I will continue to search for an excellent quality, economic, And versatile saddle.
Thank you, everyone for your generous thoughts and commentaries. I went with a Treemotion S.light. I think it will work nicely. I like the wide range of sizing options in one harness (for this application…friends/colleagues.
I really appreciate everyone.
With gratitude,
David
Matias....I like your approach. I will explore a "freshie". If I'm going to be the customer...I'd like to try something new (for the fun of it). Now begins that wormhole of a search/research. Eek!
Thank you.
David
Hello All,
I climb with a Petzl Sequoia. It's the only saddle in which I have spent a significant amount of time.
I have plenty of climbing gear with the exception of a second saddle. I would like to acquire a second saddle so I can turn friends and colleagues onto tree climbing.
The question...
Good morning, everyone. Thank you for your generous contribution of thoughts in response to my inquiry.
Rico...I have not had the problem, but like Bendroctanus, I have found myself tending to the hitch on every sitback, ensuring that there isn't a conflict. I suppose that's ok..but I...
Hello All,
My normal tool for climbing both SRS and MRS is the HitchHiker XF.
If I want to traverse to another limb, I will often use the other end of my line. I will make all the necessary throwbag/grappling hook moves to get situated and secured. My tool of choice for the other end of the...
Moss, This was totally cool to watch. The engagement with the parents was fantastic! I’ve tried to connect with our local bird rescue organization, but they haven’t responded. I believe they already have climbers in their “rolodex.”
Good morning, Moss.
The way this climb rolled out was shooting a couple throw lines into the tree… 150 feet up or so (not really sure of the height). Ropes were hauled up and over, secured with a basal anchors. We then climbed up SRT on those ropes. Unfortunately before we could reach our...
Hi Moss,
I was inquiring about all of it. Trying to understand the practices and standards associated with tree climbing. I was trying to understand if there is something inherently different, or just a different approach to the activity.
I think I understand the safest approach after reading...
Good afternoon, all.
Thank you for your generous responses to my curiosity. (Please know that a question is not a challenge. It is simply an inquiry for education purposes. One can learn through information. Or, one can learn through experience. This is a great space for the former, based on...
Good morning.
A couple weeks back I asked a question about transferring from rope to rope in order to climb a redwood tree. The situation was the I didn’t have a long enough rope.
Thank you for all of the great information and advice. I will be with professional instructors who I’ve climbed...
