Hello All,
Happy New Years Eve.
So, I’m in the search mode for a new harness. As everyone knows, it’s a difficult purchase because (at least in my area) there isn’t a store to try on different brands/styles. It’s strange to purchase something so pricey, and not be sure of the fit.
With that...
It just seems to "cramp" my kidney areas. The waist belt seems to ride a bit too high for my geometry.
When I first started climbing, I didn't understand the difference between the side d's and the lower d's. As I sat suspended in a tree, the pressure became pretty intense (side ds). I asked a...
Eek gadzooks! Thanks Phil.
OK….New price…$300. Shipping on the buyer. That ought to save a bit. Like I said, pretty great (like new) condition.
Cheers.
Good morning, Muggs,
I do use a longer lanyard. I have had 30’, but recently switched to 22’. I found the longer lanyard to be carried without full deployment, so I decided to dial in with frequency as the driver of length.
With your 50’, are you staying on the main line and connected to the...
Hello All,
I have a Petzl Sequoia harness. I know it is considered a nicely designed harness, and is supposed to be comfortable.
I am 5’10 and 154 pounds. That makes me a thin person. I find the waist belt rides up higher than I prefer, and puts pressure on my kidneys.
Is this a design issue...
Muggs,
Thank you for your thoughts. I’m sure you’re right. I do a lot of hiking in to my climbing locations. The second rope would be a burden for this mule.
Njdelaney,
Just back from the climb. Yes…you were correct. Worked like a charm. Did get a bit tangled up on the descent…but that’s simply because I’m dopey sometimes. Safe…but dopey!
I also experienced the truth behind a Texas Tug. When it came to retrieving my SRT line, all was good until the...
Super. I will go out in a bit and get it right (as you suggest)
Thank you….and excellent deciphering of my post! I thought I was going to have to send out an enigma to anyone interested in understanding my situation.
Good morning, All.
Yesterday I want out for a little climb. I had a few goals in mind: 1. I had in my possession a brand new, very “sexy” 150’ Vega Double Sewn Eye rope that I was excited to try (how geeky is that!). 2. I have been using a Notch ankle ascender, but I find the rope slips out too...
Hey dmonn,
You know what is interesting around my neck of the woods? Many of the rec climbers are seriously experienced and active professional arborists. I find it super fascinating that during their time off the job they like to return to the canopy. I'm sure others on this forum can provide...
Good afternoon.
Procrastinating at work. Thinking about my rec climbing this weekend.
Met up with some friends and acquaintances to climb a Redwood in an area north of San Francisco.
Here are the thoughts:
1. This community, be it rec or pro climbers is exceptional. So far (knock on wood), no...
