    It has a lower wll but otherwise is smaller and lighter and works on arborist double brade ropes up to 13mm. They also have another one called the Tank that does 13mm and has a higher wwl but i dont think they are selling it yet.

    I was thinking of getting the reflex for the same reason. Before I could get the reflex, AWAH came out with the Z3 mini which is rated up to 13mm and works fine with bluemoon and hyperclimb. Those are the only two I've tested it on.

    I don't know the Black Bird but with mechanicals jumpiness is usually mitigated by bracing your hand on the body of the device so that you can apply a steady consistent pressure. If you just pull down on your fingers it creates a drop/stop situation.

    It is easy to build your own Mikepower's version. I had his broken one as a template to help but cut the aluminium and drill through a CT ascender and then bolt it to the backing plate with machine screws. Mine has served well for years.
