    Fire Heat and trees

Thanks to all for the replies! I have been watching the tree and reading what was posted. Found a couple more articles as well! It is blooming out quite a bit more, only 2 larger limbs 2-3” diameter haven’t started to put leaves on, then some small 1” limbs in the top. I plan to watch it for...

    Fire Heat and trees

I’ve done some searching but can’t find my exact issue. I’m a good production climber with a good understanding of proper pruning and removals. I’m no arborist and do not claim to be. So late last summer, I burnt a big rotten pirate ship swingset at my house. It was wet and rainy so I figured it...

    Rigging cookies for tight spots

If you don’t have to worry about ground impact, why not a vertical speed line? Keeps it from bouncing when it hits the ground.

    So.. Free Climbing?

I would probably concur on the ladder vs free climb point.

    So.. Free Climbing?

I’ve been production climbing for 3 years and I haven’t ever free climbed. Zero interest in it. I also always use 2 tie in points to make a cut. I’m 100% self taught and common sense and a will to live taught me not to free climb. I find it pretty irresponsible for any sort of training or...

    Just bought the akimbo

Don’t give up too easily on your akimbo. They are temperamental and in my opinion, not as efficient in many ways as the rope runner. I spent a lot of time this summer playing with settings and getting it dialed. I was one of the first to have an RE version and It takes some tinkering to get it right

New crane slings -- arbsession community project

https://reonroundsdesigns.com/products/reon-rounds-crane-slings Pricey but the best crane slings I’ve ever used. Half hitch and clip them up. Fast in the air, fast for the ground crew too. The weight of the hook helps toss them through foliage and twigs too. For large stalk wood we use large...

If you have a skid I want your opinion

Really you sound like you are sold on a full sized skid, but I’ll add to. In my market, a full size skid steer has little to no place. The yard damage being the largest reason, gates and fences can be worked around. People aren’t excepting of yard damage in my market. Lift capacity, I worked...

Tip changing anvil on Morbark 13

Glad something I said was helpful! There’s tons of educated individuals on the buzz, I’ve learned a lot on here, I’m glad to give a little back

Is "wobbling" a tree down by cutting off short sections at a time a good plan?

It puts a lot of stress on the your rigging tree. I have done it but only with 10-12” trees, and when my rigging tree is much bigger and stronger tree. Why not set up a rigging point in your bigger tree, climb the tree you’re taking out and rig it out in a few pieces over to your rig tree? When...

How to dispose of large logs

The logs that can be used for lumber I sell to sawmills. The crotch wood, junky wood, or wood that was rigged out too short for lumber, I am lucky to have a local sawmill that has a firewood processor. They will take a semi load of firewood and pay you $250. Which is what my semi driver charges...
