Works best with soils at field capacity. Avoid work in saturated conditions. Get the vacuum attachment. Refer to tool as pneumatic excavator..not by brand name. Root Cause LLC in Seattle area does this work as their specialty. Contact Brian Holers...he is friendly.
Seattle has really great trees and great arborist's like Kathy Holzer to care for them. You could not get a better opportunity to learn, and have some fun with a great team!
Looks like Leyland cypress to me. They are prone to a canker and also susceptible to root disease. One of my least favorite tree species when planted here where I live in the PNW.
