6-8’ minus two fisherman’s should put the usable length around 4-6’... 6 might be a long but 4 would be the sweet spot.
Any merits to using a slimmer rope (so the knots are smaller) or is it moot and one should either learn to splice or use webbing?
Wanting to make a home made friction saver and looking for input/advice... Have some extra Arbormaster and SMC 28 and 40mm rings. Thinking 6-8ft with fisherman’s knot to hold the rings - 2 inch tales and tape the ends to reduce snagging. I know a splice would be better, but I dont know how...
Thinking Fast and Slow is an excellent book. Not a quick read but worth every minute (hour)... Cognitive bias is real, we all suffer from it and must be vigilant to protect against it. Don’t let your elephant control you!
If you believe foul play it might be worth putting up a trail camera or two. Not sure what you’d do with the evidence but at least would provide peace of mind and let you know who your neighbors really are.
I attach my gloves and helmet to them. Let’s them air out instead of stinking up the inside of my bag. Sometimes they get in the way but it’s easy enough to stick em in the bag when that happens.
Nice! Saw a video of someone using a clove hitch and biner to lock off the working end - so elegantly simple. Why didn’t I think of that? ...Once I got my RW and HAAS I stopped exploring and learning all the possibilities of MRS... time to go back to the basics!
Thank you all for sharing your wisdom. I’ve learned so much combing this forum and appreciate your willingess to answer questions and give pointers to newbies - it is both reassuring and refreshing.
Thanks guys. I learned the Floating Prusik from watching Hamel and the Hitch Climbers Guide... seems like it’s the same as the O-Rig... unless I’m missing something or maybe confused the names? Here’s a pic.
@moss The severe bend is through the delta on the saddle. Guessing as long as I keep...
When running MRS what are some options for extending the tie in to my bridge? i.e. adding a little extra length to help with the hip thrust/pull motion. Climbing in a New Tribe Tengu with delta link.
Have been using different length slings basketed through the delta link and then clip the HC to...
Spot on. The JHA/JSA does two things really well: 1. forces veterans to slow down, think about the entire process end to end, all possible risks involved, and how to mitigate them, and 2. gives the uninitiated a clear, written summary of the same. Some folks develop this as personal habit while...
Our society has come to place greater personal value and admiration on fame, wealth, and influence than virtue, wisdom, and honor. Until this changes, we will continue to elect representatives who are unfit for the job.
Let’s stop referring to politicians as leaders and officials. They are elected representatives and they are supposed to work for us. Our taxes pay their salary and benefits and we are supposed to hold them accountable for their performance. Since they now have income streams independent of us...
Teaching my 10 and 7yr olds to climb MRS. Started them on a Blake’s and prussic foot loop, tending both by hand. Have them tie a slipped overhand every 10’ or so as they ascend, just in case. Easy to control their decent. Promoted them to an open MRS on a hitch climber, still using the prussic...
