Thank you all for the constructive feedback and suggestions! @Bart_ Yes, that rope is dirty as hell and I didn't see any glazing. It was also raining all day(not sure if that's relevant). @evo I have no good excuse, I recognize that a half hitch/marl to running bowline is better than choking...- Jacques LaForge
